Really hope we get it obviously but dont have a good feeling.

I would hope FIFA would know they wont make the $$$ in Australia, but wouldnt have thought the next world cup in Brazil would be considered a wealthy tournament.

There comes a time when its more important than the $$.

Brazil > England > Australia > US > Europe seems a pretty fair schedule for the next 5 cups

At least we are not the only ones with a questionable final bid as Morgan Freeman had a few hiccups in his speech as part of the USA's final bid

England's bid has taken a major setback following a riot at the Birmingham v Aston Villa Carling Cup match

Say what??

A population of 193 Million soccer nuts, Large cheap labour force for building new stadia, siginificant established soccer infrastructure only three hours behind GMT. So three games comencing 2hrs apart starting at 3 pm Rio time can be broadcast prime-time into Europe.

Absolute marketers delight - FIFA are printing money as we speak.

Just one of the advantages of the USA bid - games can start in the afternoon and be broadcast prime-time back into Europe

So now its about TV? Then South Korea/Japan should have never got it in 2002 then

Dutchy you know it just isn't one factor, however the time zone for the far east is a significant reason why the Asian countries are behind Qatar and the US for 2022.
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Watching Qatar's pitch atm, IMO one of the weakest pitches and all over the shop (right down to chopping and changing the language spoken during the pitch).

Maybe I was premature saying England and Qatar will be the successful bids

Qatar was no suprise but russia was very suprising. Disappointed we only got 1 vote i think a few members dogged us. Our clean honest bid worked against us, australia has to learn to play dirty. Will definately go to russia but not sure about qatar. We stopped in dubai last year in june and it was 47 degrees for 6 straight days, the heat was unbearable

Weird, I had a dream Russia and Qatar win it, woke up at 3am and checked the news and I was right!
<insert twilight zone music here>

Any chance we can have our 45 million and probably the same amount again that's propped up the A League for better roads or something useful?
There's always 2042 I suppose!

all the money that was wasted on the bid (how the @##### do you spend that much on a bid is beyond me) do we get it refunded.

I guess a few people made a lot of money on it. The good part about not winning is the country wont have to go further into debt to hold it.

We will never get it we dont have enough crooks and dont grease enough palms.
The smug look on abramovichs face during the announcement told the full story. Russia is the most corrupt country on the planet and what abramovich and his mafia want they get. I would think the deal was done months ago.
Next cup in asia will be 2030 at earliest and that will be chinas
