Correct. Just lack the spark...The lads played very well though, and if they played like that in the ACL may have done more.

Malik looked very good for his short amount of time on the pitch....

Agreed. I know its still only early days for him, but from what i saw of Malik last night, he should all but end Kristian Sarkies career with Adelaide.

What was with Reid last night? So many turnovers for a guy who is supposed to have one of the best passing % in the A-League.

Nice theory but we need to turn those blobs into 1's in order to do that! We just couldn't score last night.

Thought last nights performance was one of the most plucky I've seen from our boys in a long time, and I'd been a bit concerned it was a quality we were lacking, that teams like CCM and the Victory posessed .. Feeling better about our prospects after seeing that.

How good has the little whippet Jamieson been this tournament (actually since he arrived) Doesnt stop running, his touch, passing and decision making seem to be improving as the season goes along as well.

I cant see us holding onto him for very long. Coming from Bolton Youth team i assume he wouldnt have too many work permit issues in the UK so if he keeps this form up you would think he could at least make the Championship.

Young Malik looked ok out there as well in his 10 minute cameo. Cant wait to see the next 1990's Pakistan cricketer Aurelio unveils.....

Here's a United story.

Thanks to the Daily Mail

O'Shea shakes off jet-lag to insist Manchester United will be big in Japan for Club World Cup

Manchester United dragged their weary bodies into Japan determined not to use tiredness as an excuse if their Club World Cup campaign fails to match expectations.
With no Brazilian or Argentine opposition to face over the next week, United are firm favourites to succeed where Liverpool failed three years ago by becoming the first English team to be crowned world champions under the new format.
But with a nine-hour time difference and just three days to acclimatise before tackling home favourites Gamba Osaka in Yokohama, it will not be easy for Sir Alex Ferguson's men, who had one training session in London before boarding their flight to the Far East.

United expect no sympathy, nor do they really feel they deserve any. With a massive squad at his disposal, Ferguson is choosing from strength.
And John O'Shea does not feel the long trip is a legitimate reason for below-par performances.

'It would be so easy to use the travelling as an excuse but we don't want to contemplate that,' said the Republic of Ireland defender. 'Obviously there will be jet-lag but that will be out of our bodies after a few days.
'We have to be on our guard because it is an opportunity for the other teams to collect a major scalp. But this is our reward for winning the Champions League final in Moscow. We have to try and take advantage of that.'

Some might say a nine-day trip to Japan, with a Boxing Day fixture at Stoke four days after they return to England, is not much of a reward for the Red Devils.
However, their presence should at least give the home fans something to remember. Twice over the past four summers, United have toured Japan to mass acclaim. The fact there is a real trophy on the line this time should heighten the atmosphere even more.

'You can just imagine how big this will be given the support we have in Japan,' said O'Shea. 'The atmosphere will be electric. Osaka might be the home team on Thursday but they could be outnumbered by United fans.' Past history suggests O'Shea's assessment is spot on, particularly as Cristiano Ronaldo and Wayne Rooney have made the trip.

South America's representatives LDU Quito of Ecuador tackle Mexican quarter-final winners Pachuca for a place in the final on Wednesday, 24 hours before United look to overcome a starless Gamba outfit, who defeated Adelaide, the side they overcame in the Asian Champions League final, to earn their place in the last four.

I read that DW. I thought it was a bit disrespectful to be honest. it was the tabloid and not O'Shea saying it though and we all know how much respect they have for anything.

David Carney got to the championship and he was nothing special playing here. Jamieson is better than Carney, so maybe he could make EPL

I think Sir Alex is making a big mistake taking such a good squad to Japan, he may later regret his decision. Think he should have left some of his better players home for them to have a little R & R, players such as Rooney, Ronaldo, Ferdinand, Carrick the key players.
