Anyone keen on this?

Having just returned from a ski season in Banff, Canada, I can't wait for the Winter Olypics next month.

My favourites:

Snowboard Cross
Ice Hockey
Luge
Snowboard Half Pipe
Skeleton
Super G Alpine jumping
Bobsleigh

On the flip side, Figure skating can take a hike, as can curling.

I love the Winter Olympics...can't wait for it to start and hope us mere mortals get some decent tv coverage.

Personally I wouldn't be caught dead deliberately trying to slide on snow or ice but love watching it on tv ;)

The last one in Turin got me totally hooked on the snowboarding, not that halfpipe rubbish but the Cross and the Giant Slalom. Only things I don't watch is the ice skating...winters equiv to synchronized swimming and that awful dance gymnastics stuff imo and the curling is incredibly boring to watch...bowls on ice.

...and before anyone puts the Winter Olympics down don't forget the Aussies have won medals before...in fact you got a gold and a bronze last time in the freestyle skiing.

This is your team for Vancouver...starts Feb 12th...

Anyone seen the ad on foxtel with that Australian aerial ski jumper busting her knee on the landing. Horrible.

On last nights Ski Sunday on the BBC they interviewed the UK's Olympic Board Cross competitor, Zoe Gillings, who reckoned that the American girl is a) favourite to win and b) very, very likely to try a similar trick again.

Personally, I hope she learned her lesson last time and wouldn't be so silly as to risk throwing it away a second time. Must admit at the time it was one of those jaw dropping moments...so far ahead and so certain to win and so close to the finish

If I was her, I'd just concentrate on getting over the line before trying any fancy tricks (although she only did a 'grab', which is one of the easiest tricks to master). She can do tricks on the podium when she's got a gold medal around her neck.

Anyone else beeing getting into the Winter X Games currently showing on ESPN?

I can't take my eyes off it.

Shaun White is unbelievable. He is the Bradman of snowboarding.

Cannot wait for the Winter Olympics. Although, I'm starting to doubt whether it will be as spectacular as the X-Games.

Sadly being a mere mortal I can't get ESPN but I've been watching the BBC's Ski Sunday (series ended last night) as a bit of an appetizer :D

Can't wait for it to start but I think I'll be seeing mostly the highlights...live coverage starts about 1:30am in my time zone :(

Reckon our guys could have done without this news...

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/olympic ... 472411.stm

If they knew the team were ok for these Games then TBH I think they should have withheld the news until after the games...they've enough to stress about just taking part without the added worry about they're futures in the sport.

That's the reason I spent a season in Banff rather than Whistler!
You probably get more powder in Whistler, but it's not as good quality and doesn't hang around as long.

Still, Whistler has absolutely world class snow making, so don't worry about it affecting the olympics. But, I'd be none to happy if I was over there for a skiiing holiday at the moment!!

4 days to go. CANNOT WAIT!!!
