I'd love to see him run through the full 100m. I reckon he could go close to knocking off at least another .1

Easily...they said here that it was 9.68 something but they rounded it up to 9.69.

That did not seem real. Being involved in many 100 metre sprints myself* (or watching them) I have never seen someone celebrate and dominate a state/national/international after 70 metres like that. And for an event whose world record has hardly moved over 20 years, I expect him to become the Don Bradman of the sprinting world.

Now, I know speculation will be out there per drug cheating, but in such a dominating performance, he will be scrutinised like no other athlete. So I would have thought he would not be that stupid knowing his abilities to take drugs. Until there is proof of any masking agents or drugs (if at all), he will probably end up going under 9.6. And that's something no-one could have imagined 2 years ago.

*I only competed for the state once. ;)

Yep,

Seoul 1988 (Johnson saluting before the line) and Flo Jo's no one has go near her 10:70 at those games - women are lucky to do 10:80 - 11:00

Jones at Sydney the only other women to go below 10:70

Sorry this one has a big * for me. For the sake of the sport I hope I'm wrong but I would be advising the IOC to get Bolts blood and urines frozen until the testing catches up with the pharmaceutical companies...

9:68 you're kidding

No way given the laws of averages should an Olympic final of a sprint be won by so much
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

The sprint events have obviously been tainted for years and it would be extremely naive to think that the competitors aren't still trying to cheat.

I remember watchng the Seoul race and seeing Carl Lewis shaking his head as Johnson won the race.
Problem for Lewis is that even he has been suspected (never proven outright) of using enhancing (growth hormones) gear.

As for the women, Flo Jo was either a genetic freak or using something that wasn't detected.
Her 100 m World Record of 10.49 will probably stand for decades -it is that far ahead of the pack right now.
Marion Jones was stripped of her titles recently due to involvement in steroids, so many of her times must have a big asterisk right next to them now.

Yes, I hope Bolt is clean as well, because all remaining credibility the sport has will go out the window if he isn't.

Bolt ran 9.72 earlier in the year which was shown to be clean, so hopefully this is as well. I think Bolt is just that good.

Ditto

From the camera shots we got of the race he looked a fair bit taller than the other competitors and seemed to have a lot more upper body muscle. I'm hoping that's due to a new style of training that's really paying off rather than anything else.

He's 6'5'' and is clearly, supremely athletic.
Sprinters often have quite strong upper bodies.

Eased up tremendously in the 200 m heat just held.
Just "jogged" the last 50 m.
