Actually I think one of the world's best Marathoners hasn't bothered going to Beijing because of the smog.

The air quality is so bad there, that it would actually be pretty surprising if more than a few athletes don't end up in hospital.

The IOC people were on our news last night saying that they have plans to move some events to other locations if pollution levels in Beijing are likely to endanger the athletes. So I'd think there's a good chance that the marathon might be changed.

My wife's been watching the cycling as my step-daughter is a keen cyclist.
I gather quite a few very sensibly packed it in during the race.
