OK earlier.... The other controversial alleged abdication was Richard II - some claim he only abdicated via being murdered!

Edward VIII is the only undisputed one I know of but that has been turned down by you before.

Both me and Psyber went for Telstar. Off topic, but wasn't there a chart instrumental called telstar that was supposed to replicate the sounds made by the 1st satellite.Sounded a bit like the noise made on those tinny things made famous by Rolf Harris. (Can't remember what they were called. Stylophones I think)

The Tornadoes. Australian band The Models also did a great version in the 80's (flipside of the 45 "Local and or General).
