My Trip to Lords

On Saturday I ventured to Lords to watch the Friends Provident Trophy final between Hampshire and Durham. I think it's the equivalent of the domestic one day final in Australia.

I tell you what they are a lot more refined at the cricket over here than in Australia. Everyone drinks bottles of wine out of real glasses. If that was in Australia the wine glasses would have been smashed over somebody's head by the second over. Who drinks wine at the cricket anyway?

Hampshire got flogged and Warnie took no wickets and got taken for about 50 off his 10 overs. Hampshire probably lost the match when they sent Durham into bat first.

Anyway it's a great place to watch cricket. You feel really close to the action.

I don't care about Warnie no more.
He's no longer our icon.
He's German! ;)

Envious of your trip to Lords Cennals. On top of my list of places to go.

make sure you do the tour when a game isnt on, awesome walking through the long room and being in the changerooms and walking out on the players balcony, Media centre is pretty impressive too....and the pub next door "the lord taverners" magnificent!

Spot on...Went over for the Ashes in the93 series and saw Tubby, Slatts and Booney go nuts !!

Did the tour as above a couple of months later, and during the tour the England womens side was playing South Africa..about 5 people in the outer! Actually sat and watched and consumed a few Ales that day too...

I also caught the final test at the Oval where Australia lost :( ...Bloody good time though...

I was also at Lords for the 93 Ashes. Got to see days 3 and 4. Absolute highlight was seeing Atherton run out for 99 after being sent back by Mike Gatting and going A over T. An amazing place to watch cricket, for some reason I thought the ground was a lot bigger than it is. Also did the tour, the guide I had kept on about Bob Massie and his alleged ball tampering... You'd think after 20 years he would have been over it!!! :D
