Who would have thought that Dizzy would ever have lead the test cricket batting average for a calender year. Hewas also 2nd in the bowling averages, he may not have gone out as he wanted (unless he gets another chance) but he has gone out in style.

The top 5 batting averages for 2006 are:

JN Gillespie 231 runs (H.S.201*) Ave. 231.00
Mohammad Yousuf 1788 runs (H.S.202) Ave. 99.33
RT Ponting 1333 runs (H.S.196) Ave. 88.86
MEK Hussey 965 runs (H.S.182) Ave. 80.41

Just shows how stupid the selectors are. If he played for NSW instead of us, he would still be playing in the national side.

If Warney, Ooh Ahh, or any other Aussies had played that many tests against Zimbabwee or Bangladesh, their figures would look a lot better as well.

Muralichukerthiefaran also has 134 wickets at Columbo
Ash Giles would make a ball turn 3 inches there as well

Chucker has 137 gifts v ZI +BA I think Warrrrrrney has about 20 odd.

Agreed. He's had a couple of good performances for the Redbacks, but has generally struggled. Once he lost that extra yard of pace his career as a Test bowler was over.

He hasn't exactly set the domestic comp alight, he did pick up a 10 wicket match against the Bulls but he has struggled. Who would you leave out for Dizzy anyway?? Lee? S. Clark? No way.

When he bowled at 140km he was a great bowler
When he slowed down to about 130-135 he struggled :wink:

This obviously shows that averages and stats can be decieving.
MAL is correct, when Dizzys pace fell away to around 130-135 his time was up.
