Katich gone but so has Watson!!

I'm a bit surprised that there hasn't been 'dancing in the streets' on this site as the news we've all been waiting for, Katich's omission from the one day side has come to fruition. Kato is gone and should be lining up for the Blues where he belongs but Watto's duck may have left the door open for him.

Come on Watson, do the right thing and cash in against England. Australia look a lot stronger with a fast bowler opening the batting instead of a skinny 'Tubbby' with his low sixties strike rate. Just get the runs Watto and do us all a big bloody favour.

regards,

REB

That's right REB, Katich is gone - but his replacement isn't the player who deserves to be opening the batting for Australia.

Watson does give them flexibility with the ball, but he is inconsistent with the bat.

As we saw yesterday, and for the last two domestic seasons, Phil Jaques needs to be opening the batting for Australia in ODIs.

Exactly right blink. You also can't tell me that there aren't better players at domestic level than some of those in the Aussie side that played last night.

No, it's Matt the bat who should be in the side.

I liked Watson's second ball duck - because it would of been a twenty two ball duck if it was Katich !!!

Opened the door further for Cosgrove to open for Australia during the VB series.

...only if he can learn to field in the mean time. Bloody average last time out in the field and that is what will cost him when he turns out looking like Greg Ritchie.

ROD  liked it as well.

KATICH/WATSON/HAYDEN/JAQUES for openers spot ?

Have we forgotten the guy who should be dropped next.
Damien Martyn.
Struggling, too old and hit on the scon last night by Taylor as well.

They've gotta get Jaques back in the team. Far better option to open the batting, unless they play Cosgrove as an opener.

Im not celebrating until Katich is back in Oz without playing another game for AUS

Unfortunately Watson is the selectors and the ACB's golden boy, he has been given opportunity after opportunity before more deserving players, unfortunately I don't think things will change
