So did we ever win anything as the Redbacks? Maybe one of the very early T20 comps before it went to the franchise system? Or did we also jag a 50 over title as the Redbacks?

Adopted the name just before the Shield final in 1996. Also won the Twenty20 in 2011 and the 50-over comp in 2012. So one of each.

There's always a hard luck story and he's copped some flack from us over the journey but you have to feel for Nielsen. His late season form helped secure the Final at home and he's missed out. Part of team sport though.

I know I should be positive about this game but it's a sad indictment on the SA cricket system when there are only 3 SA players in this team! Just shows the damage that has been caused over the past 10 years with the past Tim Nielsen regime. Too lazy and incompetent to develop talent. I'm hearing they are going after 3-4 interstate recruits for next season. If that's the case, why bother with SA u/19s etc. when they appear to want to take the easy (or smart) option and let others do the grunt work in developing talent and then pinch it off the other states

Pope more so than Thornton.
