Declared on 281* after an unbeaten 338 run partnership with Sam Harper 132*

again he batted way too long and the match ends up a draw

What else could he have done? WA batted for a day and a half @ 3.2, Vic did the same @ 3.7.

He would've had to of gone the tonk and declared around 150 behind and taken a high risk chance at a reverse while hoping that WA would make a sporting declaration.

He had no chance by lunch on day two.

Abbott 3/98

NSW second innings 4/96, trail by 135.

Feels like forever since we saw guys hitting double tons in the shield. Probably not correct but two in the one week is crazy.

Is it a reflection of the pitches on offer. Generally, the bowling standard in the shield has been decent and the strength of the aussie test side with a fair few unlucky blokes.

I know his great form but i really don't hope the test side go back to Handscombe if they decide to try someone different in the number 5 spot Trav currently occupies.

The new points system perhaps, teams have to get a giddy up and there's no first innings points anymore.

You used to be able to post 580 then try and bowl them out twice, if you don't then you still get something.

PS: Your hatred for Travis is disturbing, yes he can disappoint but as a fellow northern suburbian, I think we should be throwing our support behind him, what do we genuinely have from SA? Only Carey who you like to chuck under the bus aswell, get a bit of patriotism in you and fly the SA flag with pride!! We'll end up with nothing before too long.

No hatred for Trav whatsoever......absolutely love the bloke and spent a fair bit of my youth with the kid. Spent many hours bowling to him as a 8-13 year old during his time at the Craigmore YMCA. He is brilliant to watch at his best and frustrating to watch when it doesnt go his way.

I'm actually worried for him...... his sub continent tour was average but his back on his home soil where he did so well last year. I hope the selectors use that as a reason to keep him at 5.

Realistically though the selectors would see him as the first dropped in the current side, his start to the summer has been modest and there are a couple of others who are 'banging down the door' albeit tried and tested at that level which once again i hope works in Travs favour.

Personally he starts in the first test for me based on last summer but will the selectors see it that way.

Travis Head plays with flair.
That batting style means he will look cheap in some disMissALs.
His style has got him to the top of the tree playing International cricket in all 3 forms for Australia.
Trav averages close to 40 in Test cricket , more than good enough to be a respected cricketer , and he undeservedly cops above average criticism.
His best ploy is to maintain his attacking nature
The last SS match he got out playing too tentative

After reading WHUFC post I can begin to understand where the looseness in his batting comes from.
Facing Whufc as a young lad meant he couldnt help himself and he has not adjusted...

Thats pretty close to the truth...

Now im a spin bowler but dabbled at one point in genuine meds. Another one of the staff was a div 5 PDCA opening bowler back then so not quick or anything but 'solid' enough.

At 8 years old you could properly to Trav with a tennis ball and he had no problems whatsoever facing it..........any yep the little bastard would cut everything back then. :)

I was a bit of a fan of Billy Bob's last season after a couple of BBL performances but his action will cause him to leak runs in the short game at times.

He lands a little off balance and along with the slinging action it will cause him to stray down leg pretty easy, he probably needs a bit more of a front on action with that style, I reckon he'd gain a few clicks too.
