Bowling crisis (According to the 'Courier Mail')

Parochial commentary, it seems is not limited to those who contribute to the sporting pages of the Carptiser. According to some bright spark in today's Worrier Mail, there is a fast bowling crisis in this country becuase Stuart Clark and Michael Kasprowicz, yes Kasprowicz are currently injured. Kaspa?? You are friggin kidding me! I would consider the inclusion of Kaspa into the test side as a result of a fast bowling crisis, not that he and another guy who has played less than half a dozen tests are unavailable. Especially when you consider the other options - Lee, McGrath, Gillespie, Tait, Johnson, Bracken, Hilfenhaus.

The related (Craddock) article puts forward the name of Mitchell Johnson as the next cab off the rank should Clark not pull up but to me Nathan Bracken must be chosen for the first test ahead of Johnson at this stage due to his superb record at the Gabbriella, he just loves the joint. Craddock's article was not parochial but the Worrier Mail doesn't seem to realise that cricketers from outside Queensland might just get in ahead of who could become this summers' golden boy.

Hang on, let me check the bio . Ask spell check (I have to say that cos I couldnt' be arsed doing the research LOL), his stats are supreme at the Gabba, especially in the last two years. Johnson's time will come.

Have to agree with you here REB, Bracken should be in - especially if the selectors are keen to replace like with like.

Johnson & Tait's time will come, but as long as McGrath is there, it is going to be hard for other bowlers to get a look in.

The only way that there could be an Australian pace bowling crisis is if Brett Lee happens to go down before or during the Ashes. He is the key to our attack, because Warney can't bowl from both ends! I have been extremely impressed with Lee ever since he got back into the team just prior to the Ashes, and he was only a bee's d*ck behind Warney as Australia's best player in that series.

Do agree with you on this one REB. I normally have time for Craddock's articles but not on this occasion.
For some reason I get the impression that Craddock doesn't rate Tait highly at all going on past articles and couple of interviews he has given to KG and Cornes. If just about any other bowler had taken 65 Pura Cup wickets at 20 apiece (at batsman friendly Adelaide Oval at that), they'd be considered the hottest thing since sliced bread.
Can't say that I've been a big wrap for Bracken in the past but I must confess that I feel he keeps getting a little bit better all the time.

Cripes OR, didn't Colin Miller bag 60 wickets in one season?? Doing it consistently is what counts..just ask Boof or that poor bugger Jamie Siddons.

Fair enough REB but Miller was about 36 when he took his 60 and Tait was only 21.
