If you find a $50 note on ground at the footy are you going to go around asking everyone who owns it?

Reminds me of the joke:
bloke walks into a bar with one thong on.
The barman says "what happened mate? Lose a thong?" bloke goes "nah mate found one!"

1. that wasn't the first time but rather an escalation of finding new methods. Taking sandpaper on the field to tamper is like buying a Ferrari for your first car. You don't go straight to the grande you build up and eventually go big at the end. Look at the footage from the test before in Sydney where Bancroft was filling his pockets with sugar.

2. More than just the 3 player involved knew and were part of it including bowlers and Lehmann.

3. Historically was happening and there was a culture around it......wouldn't be surprised to see another 'youngish' type player come out and say they were asked to or did do it at some point.

4. All test teams have been doing it...and it pretty much was the only proper way to get a ball hooping for reverse swing...we haven't really seen much reverse swing since. Reverse swing was essentially code for tampered ball. Which is why or how they could never really agree on how swing worked and was created.
David Saker was the bowling coach in South Africa.....was also the head coach when Mick Lewis was caught red-handed at Glenelg Oval in a Sheild Final!

Reckon Cameron Bancroft is onto something......

Bowlers have now released a joint statement saying they weren’t aware of any tampering that day.

Between everyone someone is somewhat lying or telling half truths

Bowlers suggesting nothing untoward
Bancroft suggestion bowlers knew
Warner’s manager suggesting there is a different truth.

It's already tarnished their reputations and rightly so.
For the bowlers to think that us mugs in the public believe they knew nothing, I find disrespectful

I really couldn't give a flying f*** TBH, no comment would've been more apt, they will all get their chance to bowl at Bancroft, I'm sure he'll be invited to bat in the nets, fix him up Shane Strempel style but without the use of violence.

There was zero need for them to make a public statement, this confirms that they are guilty as the others IMO.

CA let Warne, Smith and Bancroft take the fall cause if it came out that the whole team knew about it they had a 1000 times bigger issue on their hands.

Yeah I agree......banning an entire team would have been an absolute disaster (like the movie the replacements) and right there and then would have seen the series cancelled. Having a few scapegoats was the best way to manage the issue from a PR perspective.

Even to the point by the time the truth comes out 99% of players and administration will be retired so the consequences will be next to nothing.

I also agree about the statement from the bowlers....even the language had an under tone of delaying the discussion rather than a 100% defiant never happened then or at any other point end of story type statement. I imagine if they really wanted they could have threatened defamation for people speculating.

Rubbish, series would have gone ahead with the next tier of players

Flogging a dead horse. Bancroft should pt up or shut up.

And be banished from cricket altogether?
Why would he speak in full now as he will lose his job if he does.

He was asked a question and he’s probably sick of telling lies.

Should make everyone involved play for the Redbacks for a season

I reckon Bancroft is on some secretly filmed TV show where the winner manages to elevate themselves from being liked, to a wanker and ultimately when the judges rule you've reached f*cking wanker status, you win.

That's harsher than a life ban.
