Mrs Starc? How about Mr Healy!

Congrats to the Girls, women's cricket continues to break new ground and seems to improve every year, easily my favourite women's sport. While I know they now get paid well, there is still a grassroots feel about the way they compete.

Batting skill in womens cricket has progressed at a far greater rate than bowling. Some of the batting techniques are more textbook than many of the elite men. But this World Cup has been dominated by bat because it's like watching A grade district batters facing D grade bowlers with very few exceptions.

Bowling machines, bowling machines, bowling machines.

A batsmen can go and face 1000 balls a day no problems at all with modern day technology.

Sports scientist wouldn't let the bowlers bowl 10 overs a day.

The gap between bat and ball will continue to grow until the next generation of females who have grown up playing cricket every year of their childhood are making international level.

A bit like in the AFL where defence is progressing a lot quicker than the attacking side of the game. It's much easier to teach and practise.

Absolutely there is, I get a real buzz knowing two of the Aussie girls very well, although there's about 6 years difference in age they grew up about 40kms away from each other and took completely different paths to reach the top at young ages, both very humble polite young ladies too.

After taking 3/26 (4 overs) in Englands 4/169 she then went on to make 91* (49 balls 13*4 1*6 ) as Australia make 1/170 with Meg Lanning 64* (44).

I love how our Womens team represent Australia, they play with skill, they're humble, respectful and I reckon we should all be proud of them.

Unlike the men they look like there's no egos running around needing a massage.

Next T20 is tomorrow at AO.

Yep.

Our Ladies team. Seriously, how good are they? I remember back in the day when Lindsey Reeler and Denise Annets racked up a huge partnership in the Ashes and the next day that well known feminist, Studley Cornes came on and blasted women's cricket. They've come a long way baby. That World Cup final when 83 thousand turned up to the G was the highlight of what was a rather bland season two years ago.

This year these women were on a mission after losing the 2017 world cup. This team reminds me of the 2003 World Cup side that dominated all comers, got better and better with each game and then romped it in during the final with Alyssa Healy playing the role of Punter as she swatted away the number 2 side in world cricket. These women are skillful and entertaining. Unlike many women's teams they field like demons and the depth in all facets of the game must make Andrew McDonald quite envious. Bravo ladies well played.

It's time these ladies played more Test Cricket. They deserve it. Every elite cricketer wants to play test cricket. Give them that chance and adjust the multi format series so that Test Cricket remains the pinnacle.

REB

Agree up to a point. The ladies aren't facing any quicker than 122 so I'm not sure how much more the quicks at least can develop. Bat dominating the ball is nothing new in whiteball cricket. In the tests we aren't seeing quite as much dominance, at least in the matches I have seen in England and Australia over the past two years. I don't think Megan Schutt or Ellyse Perry are anyone's idea of a D grader. I have faced former test players Joanne Broadbent and Karen Rolton (albiet in indoor cricket) and rest assured they weren't D graders. Reckon the same could be said of the majority of least the Australian and English teams. There are some good bowlers in the South Africa, New Zealand and Indian teams too.

REB
