Buttler smokes another century to whitewash the Aussies, embarrassing.

Not having a go at the punters on here but surely that's the risk you take punting on sports where in tournaments, that whilst winning is important, there is a degree of experimenting taking place as team management try different things to see how players bat and bowl in certain situation.

Classic yesterday would've been OK Stonis see how you go at 1st drop.

With the result of yesterdays' match having no impact on the overall result it was odds on ;) that some left field captaincy/coaching decision were going to be made.

So who is our next captain when Paine gets dropped?

2 and 9 in the warm up matches, 12,2,1,3 and 1 in the 5 ODI's.

Test or ODI?

ODI - Finch
Test - Shaun Marsh

or left field, Trav Head ODI, but don't think he's cemented his own position let alone captaining.

Read a stat the other day that in every ODI innings that Paine has scored greater than 15 runs he's never once had a strike rate greater than 100%.

Can't have that coming in at number 6/7

Tim Paine is not getting dropped from the test side anytime soon

Averaging 40 with the bat.

I expect him to be our captain in the ASHES next year where he will be nice and rested after having not played in the World Cup.

He's not the answer at all.

When we've been gifted Adam Gilchrist in the past we need a keeper that is at least in the same library.

Alex Carey is that man.

He's our best performed test cricketer in the top seven who's available for selection at ATM. Smith will be back in the side but faces another 12 months before he can be considered for a leadership role - April 2020.

I agree Paine will struggle to play ODIs again, Alex will play in the world cup and will be picked as the reserve 'keeper for the ASHES tour. However he (Paine) is very much in the frame to play in the ASHES next year most likely as captain.

Compared to previous eras not a good option but given our current predicament arguably our best option.

I wasn't trying to say Paine would be dropped, just who would be the replacement captain if he didn't play!

I'm happy with Paine as our test keeper but Carey should now be out permanent keeper in ODI cricket. Finch should be the ODI captain and SHOULD ALWAYS be opening the batting, why bat him middle order, he's one of our best ODI players and if it broke don't fix it. Whether he opens with Head or Short remains to be seen. I like Head batting in the middle order but still not sure if Short will be up to standard at ODI level.

Head has to bat at the top because he can’t play spin.

NO

Because that would make too much sense and then the armchair experts like us wouldn't be justified in whinging about selection

Mate, I didn't know whether you were taking the piss or not initially but it makes sense, how hard is it to listen to your bowler to where he wants his field, all the plans take place in the video room anyway and it isn't that hard to pick heads or tails.

Our first game of the T20 Tri series is on now. We are bowling first.

Aus XI-
Finch
Short
Head
Maxwell
Maddinson
Stoinis
Carey
Agar
Tye
J. Richardson
Stanlake

A pretty decent 10 out of 11 side.
