Many decades ago with the Hookes/Phillips partnership however this has been with both bat and ball, great day by the backs

At a guess that was 1987-88 against Tassie in Adelaide. I remember being in the car with the old man driving to Elizabeth and waiting in the car when he popped into the TAB at the Rose and Crown hotel listening to the coverage.

I reckon they had a similar partnership v Tasmania in Hobart, a few years later too.

Wasnt much fun being on the receiving end v WA in the 90's when Geoff Marsh made 300 - cant remember how big his partnerships were though, may have perhaps been a big one with Valetta (or Moody).

Also the day we chased 500 plus on the last day to win against Queensland I reckon it was. Or maybe it wasnt all on the last day but it certainly was 500 plus, reckon Sleep made a ton, not sure who else got em, Bishop maybe?

I reckon Andrew Hilditch scored a truckload (1991-92?), I'm thinking about 268 but I could be thinking about another innings. Still remember the picture of Sounda with arms outstretched.

For memory Hilditch made 130 odd. Pretty sure him and Blewett put on 200 for the first wicket.
Reckon we were 5/320? and then Siddons and Sleep put on 150 plus to get us over the line

Qld 334
SA 130
Qld 4/301 Dec
SA 6/506  :D

Blewett 98
Hilditch 137
Brayshaw 39
Siddons 87
Hookes 3
Scuderi 0
Sleep 97*
Nielson 14*

Handy team that but how about Qld? Barsby, Hayden, Wellham, Law, Border, Ritchie, Healy, P Taylor, McDermott, Rackemann and Rowell. Thats basically an Australian Team.

Surely one of SAs Greatest Ever comebacks

I knew Digger got plenty, no idea where I got 268 from.

Reckon Fergusson has done more to deserve a chance b4 Head.
Just a shame he missed out today.

Just an utter DISGRACE that Mitch Marsh is in the team ahead of just about anyone

Selectors like Head as they know he is a real talent. They will take him to India as a batsmen as he bowls handy spin. He can also bowl a few overs to cover Marsh if they want a 5th option in the next test.

Problem with Ferg is he always misses out when he needs a big one, never quite strings it together when needed. He's always knocking on the door but he never quite knocks it over.

I would absolutely love to see Trav get in, good northern burbs boy. My job as a 18 year old was working at an OSHC to which Travis Head attended when he was only like 7-10, even back then as an 18 year old you could steam in with a tennis ball and bowl to him like any normal adult, was gun.

Unfortunate though with Mitch Starc not 100% fit I think they will go with an all rounder that they can get more than just a few overs out of. Not that I necessarily agree I just think that's the way they will go

Head's ability as a part time off spinner will always have him ahead of Furguson in the selectors minds now. Furg is past international contention now I reckon, the couple of knee injures he's had cost him dearly. Especially when he injured it in the 2009 Champions Trophy. That was unfortunate because from memory he was playing well in that ODI side. Head is the future and will be playing test match cricket in the near future, I've always thought he will come in once Voges retires but perhaps he will get a crack sooner.
