Can't believe they are going to persist with the Dukes experiment.
It's not going to help the Test team one bit. State associations need to be placing their young talent in Premier League competition in the UK.

100% agree with you Heater. Get our next batch of test players, playing in England ASAP.... not chasing the $$$ in the T/20's around the world. If we need to look after them in that respect, so be it. Cricket Australia should come to the party as well.

Why not do both?

What are the main differences? I've heard a few things just from watching Tele but never actually seen a duke ball.

Dukes seem to keep their shine longer, Seem is more pronounced but the biggest one is they also react differently in Australia than in England. So there really is no point using Dukes in Australian conditions. Australia has much drier air than England so off course it is going to swing less down here. I've got one in my kit bag that I used on a Cricket tour in 2013 its 40 overs old but if I just threw it at you and said nothing most people assume its less than 20 overs old. Get a 40 Over old Kooka and its well past its best.

I left Australia not being able to bowl a consistent in swinger but in England it was almost uncontrollable and I picked up several LBW's with it (I'm Left handed at bowling). Come back down under and I've still got it but not as pronounced, my rate of LBW wicket taking has increased since me and my mates were able to win the Ashes 6 & 5.

Is there any sport in the world where the equipment itself is so variable and vital as cricket? Given that it seems stupid to not have a standard ball for international and first class cricket.

Well the size and weight of the ball is standard.....

No different to a Burley or Sherrin Footy. Both are still used in official competition depending on where you are located.

The equipment in golf and tennis is pretty variable. Not even standardised for people in the same game!

South Australia star Callum Ferguson is expecting to be fit for the Redbacks' opening match of the 2016 Matador One-Day Cup after making a strong recovery from his latest knee reconstruction. Ferguson, who was sidelined in the lead-up to his campaign with the Melbourne Renegades in the KFC Big Bash, after injuring his troublesome knee in a practice match. Quick Single: Johnson 'keen' on Big Bash gig The result was a torn ACL in his left knee, which necessitated a third reconstruction, putting him out of action for the remainder of the summer. "I knew pretty well straight away, having been through it before playing for Australia six years ago," Ferguson told SACA TV in May. "It was a pretty similar feeling. "With the season going so well with the Redbacks, and I felt like I was playing pretty good cricket at the time, it was really disappointing." But the 31-year-old has put that disappointment behind him as he targets another big season with SA, who kicked on to make the Sheffield Shield final last summer, going down to Victoria. "That's the plan, for me to play the first Matador Cup game," Ferguson told News Ltd. "I was playing practice games after about 10 months last time. "Plus, the surgeon was really happy with how the operation went and all the follow-up, so that gives me confidence that I’ll be ready to go."
