Well that much was friggin obvious! How about letting us know BEFORE the Ashes starts. No wonder we were shite with two players 'not having the fight anymore'. GRRR.

I think this bloke can be excused for having more than the custodial rights of an old urn on his mind.

Could he have retired before the Ashes? Perhaps. Could he have known what was unfolding with his young family? Probably not.

I'm not going to rip into him, I'm just going to wish him and his family well.

Oh, I was under that impression, it would have probably been better if he had of said it immediately once he was overlooked, a little less disruption.

It's easy for me to say sitting here, I still regret losing that first Piston Cup.

I reckon it may have been the family circumstances that that happened DURING the ashes that changed his priorities somewhat
