Four Corners: The Great Cricket Coup

Postby Gozu » Mon Aug 10, 2015 4:08 pm

Sounds like a pretty interesting episode of Four Corners tonight on the ABC about India's takeover of world cricket with the help of Cricket Australia.

As the Ashes play out in England, Four Corners takes you into the backroom power plays of the cricket elite where an audacious coup has delivered extraordinary power to India, at the expense of smaller cricketing nations.

Featuring titans of the game, the program exposes how India has engineered a massive shift in influence, with huge ramifications for how and where the game is played. India now virtually dictates the international cricket calendar.

Would have liked it to go in a different direction, evaluating the effects on cricket in the affected countries, but the second half turned into a stand-off between the two Indian administrators, probably unsurprising though from a current affaris rather than a sports documentary show though.
