super interesting that hogg and hodge make the squad, though you cant really argue that they shouldnt be there, they both played pretty well during the big bash.
team as i see it.
warner
finch
watson
white
bailey
maxwell
haddin
faulkner
hogg
johnson
coulter-nile
Rest of Squad
christian
hodge
muirhead
starc
thats a pretty powerful batting lineup. maybe in bangladesh we play muirhead instead of coulter-nile, or maybe they play another bowler instead of white/warner.
interesting that mckay missed out - he has gone from our best one-day bowler in both forms to not even in the squad for this world cup

Why the **** has Shane Watson been selected. Absolute joke, this muppet needs to quit test cricket if he wants to play in this form of the game.

Sorry but if he continually going to break down then he should not be playing this form of the game if he wants to pretend to be a test cricketer. I couldn't give two shits about his stats in this form of the game.

fair point i guess. i think he can play all forms though, especially world cups. maybe needs to ease off his workload at other points of the year, especially now faulkner is showing that he is a world class allrounder in the short forms at least.

How will playing T20 affect his fitness for test cricket? If he can't get through a game lasting 40 overs what chance will he have of getting through one lasting 450 overs? He'd strain himself just as much during a solid net. Add in the chances of him getting a few runs and actually gaining some confidence to take into other forms of the game and it's well worth him playing.

Sorry but dont agree with these part time oldies getting a gig. Once you make yourself unavailble for all forms of state cricket that should be the end of your international careers.

do you have oldies at your local cricket club that dont want to play A grade, even though they are still good enough, but are happy to trundle out for the C grade? i know we sure do. sure, this is international cricket, but if you are good enough, and making yourself available for selection, you get picked imo.
one possible thing that i dont agree with is that it could hamper the development of someone like muirhead, who otherwise will be playing if hogg isnt, but this is a world cup, so you put your best team on the park imo

So Maxwell played what......6 decent yet unorthodox shots during the t20 comp against the poms?
Does he warrant a top 6 spot. I may be a little biased....cause i think he's a flog.
The big show....please!!!

i think his bowling and fielding helps him stay in the side - and outside your top 4 batsmen those other values do come into play

Best bowler in the BBL, first picked IMHO.
Age is irrelevant and so is the fact some think he's a flog.
He probably should be in the ODI side also.
