Amla holds that catch and it would be a different story.

He was a puller because he couldn't afford a hooker.

Brilliant work by the selectors. How in the hell did they jag that? He's averaged 25 since rightfully getting the arse and he pulls out 122 not out. Well batted. As for different story if Amla held that catch? Well no shit Sherlock, catches win matches.

Go Blonde Don tomorrow. Ton up son.

Amazing selection decision. We hang sh!t on the selectors every time there's a team or squad picked but I've got to admit they've been on fire recently. The most amazing thing is despite the backlash, despite little more than a hunch and with form and injury concerns they've pulled this one off and seemed certain it would work the whole time.

As for the shot selection issue, if you're looking for the shot that makes runs without any risk then it simply doesn't exist. Clarke would average 80 if he played that shot all day long. You also have to put pressure on the bowlers. Michael Clarke has few bowlers trying to knock his stumps over because they know he can score a lot of runs there. With someone like Watson, it feels like you can bowl there all day long. The end result with Clarke is a lot less wicket taking balls and Watson gets nothing to score off.

It was great to watch and while alot on here didnt and still don't believe he deserved to be selected not many wanted him to fail (I was in that case)

Though I wouldn't be carrying on to much as reports coming out of South Africa are saying he may have done his calf again

Ps there now saying on the radio it appears he has strained a stomach muscle

Good post. Didn't think he did enough to be selected, but once he is in the Aussie team I'm happy for him to make a shitton of runs and stay there for another 6 years if he keeps doing it

One swallow doesn't make a summer

A single instance of something is just that; it doesn't indicate a trend.
Origin

This old proverb is listed in several early glossaries, notably Richard Taverner's transcription of the [Latin] proverbs of Erasmus - Prouerbes or adagies with newe addicions, gathered out of the Chiliades of Erasmus, 1539:

It is not one swalowe that bryngeth in somer. It is not one good qualitie that maketh a man good.

It is interesting that, even in the 16th century, the figurative meaning of the phrase was made explicit.

What ?
The only discussions I've had with you was over Doolan and Watson batting at number 3
Page 8 on this thread if you have forgotten
I cant recall giving you shat about Marsh , but quote it forward by all means if I have

I've already given Tiger Pie the thumbs up for his Marsh posts in this thread
As for my assessment of Marsh
I have posted a few times over the years that he is a serious talent, when he is on he is really on

Just remember this
When heez hot heez hot, when heez not heez not

Irrespective of what he has done , we have one common denominator
We both want him to succeed , be a 5,000+ test run batting machine averaging 50 +
Not the hot and cold frustration he has been in the past at this level
