Surprise surprise, about time they stamped this crap out of the game.

Botha cited for suspect bowling action

Former South Africa spinner Johan Botha, who now plays for South Australia, has been cited for a doubtful bowling action and will undergo biomechanical analysis, Cricket Australia has said.

"Under CA's Doubtful Bowling Action Procedure, a bowler must undergo testing after a single mention for a suspected illegal bowling action in an interstate season," the board said. "CA's policy requires cited bowlers to undergo testing within 14 days of being notified."

Botha is eligible to play and bowl during this period and will only be suspended from bowling if the official report proves that he has an illegal action.

Mmm if he isn't able to bowl then surely he doesn't play for the Redbacks.

Wonder who and where the report was lodged

Would have been from Fridays game. Under the new laws, all three umpires have to agree that it was throwing for the report to go ahead, and where in previous years a player would only need to go for testing after three reports, it's now just one report, and the testing needs to happen within 14 days

I think he could hold down number 6 in the shield side. If Ferg and Phil are in the Australian team we are going to need him...

Zampa hasn't exactly set the world on fire here yet either

The ICC just ballsed this whole issue up years ago because they didn't want to offend and instead kept changing the rules so everyone was legal. Now we have some really dodgy actions around. I used to shudder watching Tait and Lee's effort balls. Now even a guy like Harbajhan who used to have a nice action chucks some variations because the rules allow it.

The Murali syndrome continues.
First time my friend, who knows nothing about cricket, walked into the room and saw Murali bowling, she scoffed "He's throwing it!"
The more educated of us cricket fans all agreed. There was no one who thought he was actually legitimately bowling the thing until the Sri Lankans threatened to walk off the ground and leave Australia mid-tour in order to keep him chucking.
"Got yas by the balls Aussies!"
From then on they found rules to keep the chuckers chucking. As observed above. How come it's alright for Murali but not anyone else?
Now everyone can chuck!

And much to Jim's delight  - Botha has passed the biomechanical analysis and is free to continue playing.

In further good news, all starting pitchers in the world series have had their actions cleared by the ICC.

Well Murali's not playing anymore so lets do the sensible thing and get rid of this 15 degree BS.
