You could ask the question as to what is going on in India. Dhoni was on the cusp of being dropped, Dhoni has an issue with Gambier, Harbi-junk and Zaheer has been dropped.

The thing is Zaheer Khan has carried there pace bowling stocks for years and now is he past it? I’m not sure India can afford for him to be past it.
Ishant Sharma is capable but seems to lack what Khan has, 4 or 5 years ago it was always going to be a Khan led attack with Sharma at his side and this would terrorise batting lineups around the world, but now, Khan is struggling, and Sharma is left on his own.

What happened to their other young pace bowlers? Remember the angry young man? No. Not many do at the moment.

So what is happening in India, well they are seeing the effects of carrying Laxman, Dravid, Tendulaker etc for so long and not having the guys to replace them. Kohli has not come on the way he should. Pujara is good and worth the time. Tendulaker is struggling and is at the end. Sehwag has the talent and is still good for a few more years. Dhoni the great man is being found out at the moment. And there fast blowing stocks have taken a massive tumble. Where is Yudav???

The other problem they face is with their piss poor pitches. They have something like 3 or 4 spinners playing the test against England. Oyja who is talented and reasonable. Ashwin is a good solid off spinner. Jadajea is honest at best and the 4th bloke I have no idea about.

So with a country full of so many people that all love cricket so much why the hell aren’t they the best team in the world and consistently the best team in the world? With the $$$ and talent at their disposal you have to ask the question.

In saying that they will most likely beat us over there with their spinners and piss poor decks. As we have no real dangerous spinners. Still the way they are going when will they win another test outside of India?

Me thinks it could be a while..................................................

I'm not as knowledgable as most on here regarding the recent state of world cricket. It just turns out that circumstances have allowed me to follow the game more this year. But after Australia and India were vying for number 1 a few years back, and given their massive population and the improvement in India's economy, I too expected them to be like the U.S is to basketball. But after my few years of hibernation I find they've slipped down the rankings.
Surely if they remedy the situation they'll be standing head and shoulders above the rest of the world. I mean, their population's at a billion now, right? What's Australia at? 20 million odd? That's about one fiftieth of India's population!
