Starc to play Johnson, Putland? to come into the squad?

Ponting possible last Test?

Ffs Putland has taken his first decent bag of wickets and already there has been a few suggesting he will be close to a gig in Perth. Ferguson will get a gig before him ;)

Starc is a definite and in such a crucial test they WILL with Johnson in the squad who is proven against the Saffers.

Starc and Hastings in for Pattison and Lyon, not that I rate Hastings

watson in for Quiney

Surely they wont give Johnson a game

I don't think he will play but surely Johnson would be in after Starc with his record in tests at the WACA and his record against the Saffies.

Highly unlikely they would play Starc and a debutant in the same bowling attack in the biggest test this summer

As much as i don't like it Johnson will be a certainty given his record in Perth against the Saffers and the selectors will justify it by saying we need to attack all out for the win to take the series. Starc also in and Lyon to carry the drinks.

If Watson plays and can bowl Lyon will play and Johnson 12th but thats highly unlikely
Will be

Warner
Cowan
Watson
Ponting
Clarke
Hussey
Wade
Siddle
Johnson
Starc
Hilf

Lyon 12th

Ponting bats at 4 or not at all
Wouldnt mind seeing Watto and Cowan open and play Warner at 3

How about Cutting? Reasonable stats this year, though the selectors seem to like Hazelwood.
Re the batting, now should be the time for Chris Lynn, given the promise of his first two years, but doesn't seem to be able to even get a first-class game atm after an awful year last year.

I dont think he has done much this year.
Apparantly bowled a fairly hostile spell today and took 4fa and sconed someone on the lid.
Id like to think more than 1 good innings is required for a recall, reward someone like Bird who has had a couple of decent seasons under his belt

Bird will have to do more than take wickets on that joke of a wicket in Tassie, Putland would be closer to selection than Bird thats how far off he is.

Clearly siddle and Hilf are under clouds after bowling so many overs so far in the series especially in Adelaide!

Quiney, patto, and Hilf out. Starc, Johnson and Watson it for mine.

Formatting is not the best, but there is the top 10 wicket takers in the Shield at the moment... Johnson's record is nothing special, the 3 Tassie blokes have probably bowled well but are assisted every 2nd game!

Im not Mitch's biggest fan but he has to play in Perth, should have plenty of fire in the belly.

D. Warner
E. Cowan
S. Watson
R. Ponting
M. Clarke
M. Hussey
M. Wade
P. Siddle
B. Hilfenhaus
M. Starc
N. Lyon

Johnson, Hastings & Hazlewood to miss.
1) I would have Hughes or Khawaja in over Ponting.
2) With Watson back, there's the fourth main quick, and Lyon can still play for the alternative option.
3) NSP can neck a fat one. MJ? Seriously?

Given his record at the WACA, Johnson probably should be the first bowler picked.
