South Australian Spin Options

Postby Tiger Couple » Sun Nov 25, 2012 6:49 pm

I am more than happy with SA getting Botha as Captain of the One Day and T20 sides, but not really sure he is the man for the Sheffield Shield side. He goes okay with the bat and reasonably well with the ball but can't see him winning games with either.

So with Lyon playing for Australia and if we didn't have Botha playing 4 Day Cricket what would be our next best Spin options or would we need to look interstate?

Don't really need to look interstate as he is already here but Darren Berry should be calling/emailing Pakistan's greatest Leg Spinner Abdul Qadir begging him to allow his son Usman take up Australian Citizenship and play for the Redbacks whilst he serves his qualification period to play for Australia.

Only 19 and already has 29 2 day wickets with 2 games to go before xmas. A much more financially sound proposition for Usman IMO as he can make a comfortable living from cricket here in Australia.....

No old hack (i.e. Cullen Bailey or Brad Young) regardless of hit and giggle thoughts.
Would rather see Botha partnered by Cam Williams with an eye to three or four years down the track rather than a part time shit trundler.
