West End Redbacks’ selectors will take a 13-man squad to Perth for the Bupa Sheffield Shield match against the Warriors starting Monday.
Phil Hughes comes back into the squad, returning from Australia A duties while Nathan Lyon is in Brisbane with the Australian Test team.
The only other change is fast bowler, Jake Haberfield coming into the squad to widen the pace options for the WACA wicket.
Speaking on Thursday at Adelaide Oval, Redbacks captain Johan Botha emphasised the need for the group to carry their confidence and winning form into the trip to Perth.
“One win doesn’t make us feel like that’s it for the summer, we want to continue what we’ve been doing and keep improving,” he said.
“We’ve only really beaten Tasmania twice in 18 games so we want to start doing it against other teams. That’s our focus, to compete against all teams all around Australia, all the time.
“We’ve done it for two weeks now and we’d like to do it for a third week down in Perth.”

Huge game for Hughes with Warner failing again and a test at the WACA coming up in a near future.

Looks a better line up, I guess two pace bowlers to miss. Haberfield and Worrall is my guess as Mennie IMO needs to play on that wicket.

Sayers and Worrell under clouds hence Jakes inclusion in the squad. Sayers with a foot I think and Worral General soreness
I think Hughes is a chance to bat 3 with Raph and Klinger opening.

Thats the side i would go for. Quality number 11. 4 quicks, one spinner. A lot better balanced side

That team "suggests" we bat right down to number 10 and Sayers can bat a bit too

Sayers has been our best tail ender this year. hung around numerous times and put on some decent partnerships

12th are allowed to bowl. Obviously not picking him for his batting....
Stiffy Qadir to debut for the futures team should provide some entertainment.....

Id suggest that had, habberfield and Worral not travelled to WA with the Shield Squad, he wouldnt be picked.
