Just checked his age - 35 - probably a bit of a surprise re this decision, would have thought he would have had a few years left in him, especially given his form over here a couple of years ago.

Perhaps this decision was prompted by some of the internal matters happening in the English camp in recent weeks.

Saw a tweet from Michael Vaughan earlier tonight which sort of makes sense now.

Good career, better captain than batsman IMO, led a good side and made them great.

Makes possible the return of KP (perhaps as captain!)

Cook gets the job officially.

Cook pre-ODI captaincy:23 matches averaged 30
Cook as ODI captain:30 matches averages 47

He is just one hundred behind equalling the England record, so if he has a similar spike as full time Test captain, look out world.

Hopefully Cook has jumped the shark. Seriously what a prick of a batsman to watch like many of the Poms. The amount of short shit we've served up to the guy over the past few Ashes series is laughable. Have a look at how Pidge and the Proteas bowled to him and just do it. No half trackers to Cook and maybe we'll get the bastard out for a change.
