New Zealand have named their 30-man preliminary squad for the ICC World Twenty20, and it features only two men without international experience. The Canterbury batsman George Worker and the Auckland batsman Anaru Kitchen are the only players in the group who have not represented New Zealand in any format.
There were no major surprises in the squad, which does not feature Jesse Ryder, who no longer holds a New Zealand Cricket contract and is attempting to manage his off-field issues before being considered for national selection again. Daniel Vettori was included after coming out of his international T20 retirement earlier this year.
Squad Ross Taylor (capt), Michael Bates, Trent Boult, Doug Bracewell, Neil Broom, Dean Brownlie, Colin de Grandhomme, Andrew Ellis, Daniel Flynn, James Franklin, Martin Guptill, Ronnie Hira, Anaru Kitchen, Tom Latham, Brendon McCullum, Nathan McCullum, Peter McGlashan, Andy McKay, Kyle Mills, Adam Milne, Tarun Nethula, Rob Nicol, Jacob Oram, Tim Southee, Daniel Vettori, Neil Wagner, BJ Watling, Kane Williamson, Luke Woodcock, George Worker.

However, he took part in the only T20 game against India in March 2012 - a match played in his honour. Graeme Smith, who was dropped for the three-match T20 series against New Zealand in February, has also been included in the squad.
Squad: AB de Villiers (capt), Hashim Amla, Farhaan Behardien, Johan Botha, Marchant de Lange, JP Duminy, Faf du Plessis, Reeza Hendricks, Imran Tahir, Colin Ingram, Jacques Kallis, Rory Kleinveldt, Richard Levi, Ryan McLaren, David Miller, Albie Morkel, Morne Morkel, Chris Morris, Justin Ontong, Wayne Parnell, Alviro Petersen, Robin Peterson, Aaron Phangiso, Graeme Smith, Dale Steyn, Rusty Theron, Lonwabo Tsotsobe, Roelof van der Merwe, Morne van Wyk, Dane Vilas

A few pointed comments from Chuck apparently in the Friday chip wrapper, particularly on the non- selection of Lyon. Good to hear him out in full support of his players.

The fast bowler Adam Milne has been named in New Zealand's squad for the ICC World Twenty20, 18 months after he last played for his country. Daniel Vettori has also been included after being ruled out of the upcoming Test series in India due to a groin problem, and he will have the chance to test his injury early next month with the same squad to play two T20s in India on September 8 and 11.
New Zealand squad Martin Guptill, Rob Nicol, Brendon McCullum, Ross Taylor (capt), Kane Williamson, BJ Watling, James Franklin, Jacob Oram, Nathan McCullum, Daniel Vettori, Kyle Mills, Doug Bracewell, Tim Southee, Ronnie Hira, Adam Milne.

Australia's selectors have sprung no surprises with the squad for the ICC World Twenty20, naming the same 15 men they chose for the T20s against Pakistan in the UAE. The offspinning allrounder Glenn Maxwell is the only uncapped member of the squad, which also includes the 41-year-old spinner Brad Hogg, who originally retired from international cricket four years ago, before storming back into contention through the Big Bash League last summer.
Australia squad David Warner, Shane Watson, Matthew Wade (wk), David Hussey, Michael Hussey, George Bailey (capt), Cameron White, Daniel Christian, Glenn Maxwell, Brad Hogg, Xavier Doherty, Clint McKay, Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins, Ben Hilfenhaus.

Farhad replaced Nazmul Hossain in the team that will also be touring Trinidad and Tobago in early September for a four-nation tournament, though it will play under the name of Bangladesh Cricket Board XI.

The ICC has extended the deadline for naming the World Twenty20 squads, although the chances of Kevin Pietersen being included for England remain very slim.
The original deadline was Saturday but boards have now been given until August 24 to submit their 15-man lists for the tournament which begins on September 18, after the ICC received requests "from several of its members".

41 year old Brad Hogg playing in the Big Bash I can handle. In the IPL no worries. But in an international cricket format? Hell no.

I heard that there is a T20 world cup coming up in the next week or two, is that right?
If it is, where it it being held?
How often are these slogfest carnivals held?
Heard / read virtually nothing about it.
As for being 10th in the world rankings, thats pretty crap/embarrassing i suppose but does anyone really GAF?
