Bupa Sheffield Shield Final broadcast details confirmed

Cricket Australia, FOX SPORTS and ABC Radio have today confirmed the broadcast details for the Bupa Sheffield Shield Final between the Queensland Bulls and Tasmanian Tigers starting at the Gabba this Friday.

The match will be broadcast live on FOX SPORTS and ABC Grandstand Digital (ABC Shield Cricket).

FOX SPORTS will broadcast the match on FOX SPORTS 1 (Days 1, 2 and 5) and FOX SPORTS 3 (Days 3 and 4) and will also provide a live stream through foxsports.com.au. The commentary team will feature Mark Waugh, Allan Border, Michael Kasprowicz and Danny Morrison.

ABC Radio will have a full commentary team led by Quentin Hull, Peter Newlinds and Alister Nicholson, as well as experts Ray Phillips, Roger Woolley and Lee Carseldine. The entire match will broadcast on ABC Shield Cricket digital radio and on Saturday and Sunday, ABC Local Radio in Hobart and Queensland will also take most of the play live with large periods of commentary in the national Grandstand program.

Cricket Australia CEO James Sutherland said: “Fans around Australia will be able to watch or listen to the Bupa Sheffield Shield Final from the first ball to the last on FOX SPORTS, ABC Grandstand Digital or online.”

“The match will bring to an end one of our most successful cricket seasons, including an incredibly close Shield competition.”

FOX SPORTS CEO Patrick Delany said: “We are delighted to confirm the Sheffield Shield Final will be broadcast live and in full on FOX SPORTS and will be streamed simultaneously on the FOX SPORTS website.”

“We are committed to over 183 hours of live sport from Friday through to Tuesday so it’s been a challenge with scheduling, but we’ve worked with FOXTEL to enable the match to be broadcast live with coverage of the final two days of the second Test between New Zealand and South Africa moving to Viewer’s Choice and available via the red button on FOX SPORTS 1.

“FOX SPORTS has broadcast the Sheffield Shield Final live each year since the 2007-08 season and we are once again looking forward to providing live coverage, both on television and online, of one of Australia’s iconic sporting events.”

ABC Grandstand Manager Craig Norenbergs said: “We are really pleased to continue our 80 year association with Sheffield Shield cricket and dedicate an ABC digital radio channel exclusively to the Final in addition to some ABC Local Radio stations and ABC online.”

Live audio will also be available on abc.net.au. ABC will have post-play interviews and a wrap of the days play on the ABC website and on Grandstand Digital Breakfast.

The Cricket Australia website, cricket.com.au, will carry live scores and commentary, as well as updates and daily reports from the Gabba.

Far from over rated. He is consistently taking poles and is a bloody handy bat. He will be the number 8 for Australia very soon IMO

Tasmanian Jackson Bird, recently named Shield player of the year, will be a huge part of this match, if he continues in his current vein of form, then he will run right through Queensland. A totally dominant bowler, who will join the large pecking queue for Australian fast bowlers.
Butterworth and Faulkner are very solid state bowlers, Faulkner may or may not make that jump to International cricket, but he will be handy in this match.
Ed Cowan and Ricky Ponting are two sensational batsmen, and Ponting is in marvellous form, tonning up twice from two Shield starts. Those two are the kingpins of the batting.
A returning Cossie could dominate also.

Queensland are led by a gaggle of quicks, Cutting, McDermott, Magoffin and test quick Ryan Harris. Personally I play all four.
Clearly their batting is not up to the standard of Tasmania, but if Mal's lovechild Chris Lynnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn can produce the goods, we could have a good game.

Tas to win.

Surely the collective noun for fast bowlers isn't a "gaggle".

Sounds like something Damien Fleming might have done on radio, but may I suggest an "appeal of quicks"...

Any other ideas?

If you back the draw, does that also cover a QLD win? Draw would be very short though, admittedly.
