Luke Ronchi to pursue New Zealand career

Western Australian wicketkeeper Luke Ronchi will pursue a career in New Zealand in a bid to win a place in their national side. Ronchi has told his Western Australia team-mates of his decision and he will finish his commitments with the Warriors this summer before heading to New Zealand next season.

Ronchi, 30, played four one-day internationals and three Twenty20s for Australia in 2008 and 2009 when he was second in line to Brad Haddin, but he lost his place in the state side towards the end of 2008-09. He has struggled to hold down his Sheffield Shield spot since then, although he has made two Ryobi Cup hundreds this season.

In the national setup, Ronchi has been overtaken by Matthew Wade and Tim Paine, and probably others like Peter Nevill, and his chances of further games for Australia were slim. Ronchi will qualify to play for New Zealand having been born there, although his family moved to Perth when he was six years old.

Better option than Reece Young, but not McCullum.

If you knew anything about cricket, you would know that in the future tours programme we also play Zimbabwe, as do England and South Africa. NZ did well against them, as all of us will, and NZ would probably beat us at the moment.

Doubt it, they are very ordinary.
Might win 1 out of 5 against us

Some of the better names in their Test side, plus guys like Nicol and Oram, and it's a very different dynamic.

Instead of a middling number six or seven, an average bat who bowls a few overs, you have a specialist bat, and Nicol becomes the fifth bowler. Their setup has changed, and if McCullum keeps, there's another specialist bat they get instead of a Young type, there two batsmen to the good. And they weren't much behind us!

Yet drew the test series on our own soil and are a much stronger one day side, they have an awesome balance in their ODI side especially now with the likes of Nicol, Bracewell and Ellis.

By winning a test match where we played like Zimbabwe? An Australian side showing the consistency they currently seem to be maintaining would belt the Kiwi's.

NZ beat SAF in the first of the T20!

Love the bias on here, when we lose its because we play like Zimbabwe, nothing to do with the oppositon yet when we win its because we are consistent and not that the opponents played like Zimbabwe.

NZ in the limited forms of cricket ARE quality and would push any side in the world at current!
