Adelaide Strikers opening bowler Kane Richardson was omitted from the team to face the Perth Scorchers on Sunday night at the WACA.

Richardson had some back soreness during the week at training but was taken to Perth to face a final fitness test.

Strikers officials decided to err on the side of caution and rest the paceman to give his back time to fully recover.

Team Physio John Porter said, "With the short turn around between games, Richardson will be treated and assessed daily."
