Phillip Hughes will spend the entire 2012 season at Worcestershire after extending his contract with the county. Hughes, the 23-year-old Australia opener who was dropped from the Test team after a disappointing series against New Zealand, had originally agreed to join Worcestershire in June but has now agreed to arrive in the UK at the start of April.

Ponting has ruled out a county stint. Looking to a Tasmanian preseason.

If he plans to be part of the next Ashes series i would have thought a stint in county cricket would have done him a world of good.

It would have sounded like an April Fool to the cricketers of yesteryear, but it is a fact: Sam Robson, Middlesex's Australian-born batsman, has made the earliest first-class hundred ever witnessed in the UK - and he did it before March was out.

Robson struck a century on the opening day of the match between Middlesex and Durham MCCU at Merchant Taylor's School in Northwood as counties revelled in balmy early-Spring weather.

Is it just me, or is Maxy Klinger hitting 120 for Worcs more exciting than the IPL?
