Very interesting comments be Mallett
Dear Nathan,
Mate, keep spinning hard and getting the ball above the level of the batsman's eyes. You seem to know instinctively what I took years to learn: that the key to spin bowling is not where the ball lands but how it arrives. Spin hard, drive up and over your braced front leg with a high bowling arm and you can defeat the best batsmen on any track, anywhere, anytime.

And don't listen to the dropkicks at the 'centre of excellence ' because they don't know what the f**k they're crapping on about. I remember when I had some coaching from Ashley about 20 yrs ago his main message was give the ball a rip, and your spinning finger should be sore by the end of training. Very similar to the message I got from Chandrasekarar when he coached me and a couple of others for a session around the same time

Lyon sure seems to have a couple of atributes recent Australian spinners have not had.
Not worried about flighting the ball up.Not worried about getting hit for a boundary or two if he does.Tries to bowl one ball, his stock offie, almost exactly the same way each ball.
I like what I have seen of him so far.

Helps too when the captain encourages him to toss them up, not bowl friggin darts at leg stump

Mallett - another of the long line of former players who now are nothing more than dial a quote. Neil Harvey to Kim Hughes to Thommo to Rowdy....Im pretty sure he has been on CA payroll for a decent stint over last 20 years.

Terry Jenner was attributed as the best spin coach and for Shane Warne's success yet did little or nothing for the other spinners. Infact sent many backwards ie Cullen and Bailey once they started working with him. Shane was going to be a star no matter who coached him.
I have no problems with Mallett's comments and maybe the kids should listen to him

Rowdy has done some coaching at my local club in the last few years. Full of knowledge and top bloke. Awesome with the kids

Yes, Peter Sleep is an outstanding spin coach as well. Reads each player very well and our young spinners developed massively under his guidance.
