Sehwag.. what a beast!!

Postby Phantom Gossiper » Thu Dec 08, 2011 11:01 pm

Virender Sehwag with a lazy 219 (149 balls 25x4, 7x6) against WI.

Record ODI score.

Such a devastating batsman when on song, it's a damn shame he isn't more consistant!

What an innings, at his best, with his unconventional style is unstoppable. Great to watch

Has there actually ever been a more devastating batsman when on song than Sehwag?

I remember watching one of his triple centuries in Test cricket and it was just ridiculous.

Missus Parky is about to leave us.
At 0/70 I was saying something special was about to happen, and she changed the channel to some crap movie.

I watched the score tick over on cricinfo, and Sehwag 113* was when I went to bed.

219!!! Whadddda player!

Awesome innings.
Just putting it out there, I think its time all grounds were the same size for these records to be legit. Ive played on bigger primary school ovals than that postage stamp they played on last night.
Maybe the Aussie grounds can bring the boundary ropes in 40m so that its a level playing field because the par score in Australia is 220-270 wheras 300+ is becoming the norm in India

Agree with everyone
Great innings
But on a ground where the opening bowlers start their runs ups from deep long off

Exactly the first thought I had when I heard of how many runs he scored

Nothing more boring than watching these blokes, Sehwag, Tendulker, Sangakara etc etc knock up record after record on the batsmens' Gift friendly pitches and ovals on the sub continent be it Test or ODIs.
Yes they are very fine batsmen but give me Gilchrist, Hookes, Lehmann, Richards, Richards, Lara etc in full flight anyday for entertainment value.

That is true, but those tiny grounds host many games over many years and scores like this don't happen too often at all.

Do you need the same bolwing attack ( like the playing field ) for the records to be equal? Of course not.
