from my perspective all the other teams have announced big names, as for the strikers, apart from pollard, its all locals, why we couldnt hang on to christian and tait is just typical of what happens in sa sport

Typical of sport in SA includes "supporters" not paying attention.

Botha and Thomas are foreign internationals, Lyon is an Australian international player.

What's the go with internationals? Is there a limit on how many can play in any one game?

point taken to a degree however it seems that the other teams have made a lot more noise regarding their lineups,

i may be somewhat ignorant but who the **** are botha and thomas??, i read their names the other day in the 'tiser and the names didnt actually jump out and fill me with promise

Thomas: http://www.espncricinfo.com/southafrica ... 47569.html

Botha: http://www.espncricinfo.com/southafrica ... 44149.html

Botha has almost singlehandedly smashed the Redbacks in the Champions League twice in two visits, a more than accomplished international player, will be as valuable as Pollard to the side. Thomas is a little more of an unknown quantity but his T20 stats are reasonable - a regular wicket taker who will add to the side.

Christian will be missed, but he commands big bucks in this comp and he could shop himself around a bit. Tait wasn't a high priority for Berry.

Picking up Botha is a very good get.

Botha can bat as well which is a bonus plus being hard to put away.

If this Thomas goes alright then we will have a team that may surprise a few teams towards the end of the competition. By the looks of it a few of our players are completely focused on the Big Bash comp.....

Johan Botha is also a very astute tactician, being the captain of the South African T20 team and also having captained South Africa in 50 over cricket when Graham Smith was out injured.
Cheers

Just hope Daryl Hair does not make a return to umpiring, seriously this bloke would be very good on the mound at Norwood Oval. Makes Murali look like a legitimate bowler.
Good pick up in McGregor - seriously who, piss him off, include Cam Williams in the squad, not even sure I got his name right.

Certainly having no trouble batting our 20 overs at the moment, they need to up the run rate though. S..t hasn't the T/20 started yet, sorry.

Botha used to be a medium pacer but was then told by coach Mickey Arthur to develop his finger spin based on Murali and Harbajhan....no wonder he chucks it
