Second test, Aust vs NZ hobart starting Friday

After the smashing the Aussies gave the kiwis I expect them to win the next test easy as well. The question is what changes to both sides there are,
New Zealand are worried about there bowling line up and Young might find himself omitted to fit in an extra bowler forcing McCullum to open and keep. And Dan Christian has made the Australian 12 and the pressure is on Hughes too keep his spot. It might come down to the pitch if it's a seamer they may play the all rounder but if it's a batting track Hughes could possibly get one more opportunity

If Dan Christian came into the playing XI, which I don't see happening, one would assume Hughes goes.
Who opens the batting?

Well no change then... Unless Khawaja is going to open...
If Christian came in, then where would he bat, would have to be 6, couldn't have Haddin bat there

I don't think Hughes should play but given the replacements i can't see him being dropped.
I dont think Starc is ready so i would like to see Dan get a gig.

I could be wrong but I think it would be the first time since December 2004 that there were two redbacks
( cant say south Australian) the test side.

April 06 we had Cullen (forgiven for forgetting that one) and Gillespie... It was his double-hundred match...
Don't know if there's been one since...

Some unfair comments made about Ryan Harris in the post game discussion in the 1st test thread
HARRIS TEST CRICKET
8 matches
35 wickets
21.37 average
Yes he does get injured too often
The selectors and we know this
Given this , he has performed magnificently in his 8 games, in a transitional period of AU cricket
When he is on the field this guy gives 100 %

Watson was also MALigned for a poor track record with injury.
If Harris can get fit he is the other quick with Pattinson and Cummins.
If he cannot get over these injury woes then we have an issue.
Like Phil Hughes' batting, Watto had a lot of chances to redeem and recuperate, will Harris get the same?

Thing is Watson has had his youth on his side. Harris has just started but is 30 or 31. With the transition period we are in it's time to retire from 5 day cricket and play ODIs and international T20 IMO

It's a bloody conspiracy. Now we've got NSW boys leaving NSW to go to Adelaide to get a Baggy Green!

More like
8 matches
6 injuries.
A whole hearted player most would say but his body is no good mal.

Rod Marsh is a selector now. And I recall he brought Christian to SA originally from memory, so he obviously rates him, I suspect its his input that's primarily seen him selected.

Despite my troll the other day, I have been one of the biggest fans of Dan Christian over the last season and a half.
Unfortunately for him, even if they drop Hughes, and even if Dan becomes Test player number 427, I honestly do not think he is a good enough player for Test cricket. I think our best option is to make no changes at all.

Agreed
Starc and Christian offer about the same except Starc has the bonus of being a leftie.
They wont want to make any changes because they will have to make 3 or 4 for Boxing day test. They wont bring in Christian for 1 test.
