Redbacks not afraid of Bulls

South Australia coach Darren Berry said the Redbacks were not afraid of ladder leaders Queensland ahead of back-to-back Ryobi One-Day Cup and Sheffield Shield clashes at Adelaide Oval starting Wednesday.

Queensland are on an unbeaten eight-match winning streak, topping the table in both competitions, while South Australia have won twice in the Ryobi Cup but are yet to take full points in the Sheffield Shield following three draws and a loss.

"They've been outstanding this year to be honest, but I think that's a great challenge for us ... we are certainly not afraid of Queensland," Berry said.

"Credit to them. They've been really good but we are looking forward to that challenge here on our home patch."

Berry said a dry wicket combined with Queensland's poor record at Adelaide Oval, where they have not won a one-day game since 2004, could also prove vital for the Redbacks.

"Queensland know that their record at the Adelaide Oval is not great ... the wicket will probably be totally different to what Queensland are used to."

"Playing at the Gabba to playing at Adelaide Oval is a totally different proposition, so they'll be aware of that and we look forward to taking advantage of that."

"They have been playing on one with branches growing out of it at the Gabba, and they'll be on a dry Adelaide Oval wicket."

"But ultimately we have to take that advantage," Berry said.

Despite consecutive losses in the Ryobi Cup, South Australia's main concerns lie in the four-dayers.

The Redbacks looked on course for victories against New South Wales and Tasmania, but inconsistent batting saw the SA side draw and lose the latter.

"I'm probably still learning about the playing group in the longer format of the game and no doubt that's where our challenge is at the moment," Berry said.

"This group is really good in the shorter format, Twenty20 and one day cricket, but mine and the coaching team challenge's and most importantly the challenge for the players, is to be able to do that over four days rather than one."
