Ben Hilfenhaus, James Pattinson, Mitchell Starc and Ben Cutting will duel for the Test spot likely to be left open by the injured Ryan Harris when Australia A face New Zealand in Brisbane from November 24. (im happy with the last three, but Hilf PLEASE NO)
Australia A squad: George Bailey (capt), David Warner, Michael Beer, Tom Cooper, Ed Cowan, Ben Cutting, Ben Hilfenhaus, Nic Maddinson, James Pattinson, Steve Smith, Mitchell Starc, Matthew Wade (wk).

Good to see Tom Cooper in there. George Bailey I would think will try to get the side playing to win as opposed to individual performances.

Mark Waugh saying on Fox that Fergusson needs to be in the side as he is a genuine class player. High praise indeed.

At the moment thta class is not translating into runs. cant pick blokes cos they are classy but not scoring runs

Disagree, Beer's bowled wll this season and deserves a shot. I personally wouldve been temped to play both SOK and Beer, and forget about Hilf as seriously, we know what he offers and it's not enough.

Yeah we know that he is one of the form batsmen at shield level and has been batting in top 5 for NSW. On current form id rather have him than Ponting in my test side

The way the Aussies are going, picking young lads on promise, Ben Cutting should not get a gig. He is not promising, he is performing.
Overqualified for the Australian team...

Do you really think he has the technique to be a Test batsmen? He didn't even get a bowl in the second dig of the Shield match so he is now just a batsmen. Anyone else would be sent back to the Shield to make a mountain of runs

Leading run scorer in SS this year. Deserves a crack at least

This has been his best season so far, probably deserves a crack, hes 27 now and has played a fair bit of cricket, perhaps the selectors should have a look at him.

100% agree with the other guys.... Beer is a joke... Should be playing Grade cricket, not for Australia...
