Ok will give youse a scenario'
Who will play as Test batsmen in 2013 for Australia ?
Phil Hughes has been dropped becoz of form
Shaun Marsh cannot get over hamstring and back injuries
Ricky Ponting retires
Mike Hussey retires
Brad Haddin retires
That leaves
Shane Watson, whose recent batting form is questionable
Michael Clark
Ive looked around The Domestic teams and simply cannot find a player that looks a Test batting 5,000 run player
That means whoever has a bumper 2011-2012 SS season with the bat might well be in the 2013 team
Who will the contenders be
QL
BURNS
BROAD
NS
CRUICKS
WARNER
HENREBIQUES
MADDISON
KHWAJA
SMITH
CRUICKSHANK
SA
COOPER
FERGUSON
KLINGER
CHRISTIAN
TA
BAILEY
COWAN
PAINE
WA
NORTH
M MARSH
VI
WADE
QUINNEY
ROGERS
FINCH
WADE
HANDSCOMBE
MAXWELL

Cooper from SA, has played ODI cricket for the Netherlands. Would he have any qualification issue playing Test cricket for Aus? Not that I think he's any chance.

Ponting and Hussey will retire, Haddin will be replaced by Paine.
Ponting will be replaced by Khawaja
Hussey well I would like to see another genuine batsmen in the site. If Mitch Marsh can find some batting form he might be in with a chance. Otherwise I would suspect that a player that has a pretty decent 11/12 season would be considered.
You would perhaps start to look at how Maddinson from NSW is going. I would like to say ferguson if we are after a geniune batsmen, but he just isnt making the runs at shield level and until he does he wont get a look in.

The Netherlands are an 'Associate' member of the ICC. Australia are 'Full' members. From what I can gather he has no issue until Australia select him. Although to continue to play for the Dutch he must head over there every winter and play in their national competition

Ben Rohrer flying under the radar. Averages over 48. 24 matches with 4 100's and 9 50's. That's a 50 or 100 every 2nd match. Already 30 though. Also a great fielder with leadership qualities

I heard George Baily interviewed last weekend. He's got a fantastic attitude. Spoke about players playing for themselves in Australia A games instead of trying to win as a team. I haven't looked up his stats (probably foolish) but coming of last seanons shield truimph he may be around the mark.
