Good thing for the one-day side. Just too inconsistent, can't keep giving wides away like he does, and his body wouldn't have gotten to the next World Cup anyway.

Could have seen this coming a mile away...

Least he'll be fit for his Cash Cow events.

People whinge about him being too inconsistent and inaccurate, then have a cry when he decides to retire.

Calling him a tosser is a bit over the top. The guy has obviously had plenty of injuries so just isn't the same bowler he used to be, he helped win us a World Cup so at least he can take that into retirement.

No good if you cant bowl 10 overs at 27. Poor bloke will be creaking and grinding* when he hits 40...

I think, from a personal perspective, he's made an intelligent decision. Got to look after number 1.

He's definitely not a tosser, so that comment was just silly. I honestly think when it comes to express bowling, unless we have tried to bowl at 160 clicks, we have no appreciation of the toll it can take on the body. If he can't do it, then he should retire, and it seems he's made the correct decision.

People do have short memories. As you say, he was one of our stars in the previous world cup.

Good to see the standard of comments in the cricket board are as ill-informed as usual.

They dont make Sturt cricketers like they used too....

Great player with unlimited potential before the 05 ashes whose body has let him down. In the past he might of continued on in four day and one day cricket for a touch longer but with good management and a bit of luck, he has given himself the opportunity to continue playing for many more years and really set himself up for life thanks to T20. It would be irresponsible to himself and future/current family if this action wasn't taken.

He will be remembered as one of the most dominant bowlers in ODI history when he was fit enough to get on the park.

Someone like Watto could have gone the same way with all the struggles he had, and now he's gotten through it, and he's the best player in the side.

Disappointing personally that Tait's ambition isn't to get his body alright and play Test cricket... But that's his choice.

Tait is entitled to do what he thinks will is right for him ... but CA and the SACA must seriously look at whether his fragility, coupled with only being available for Twenty20, is really worth the effort.

What they do now with Tait and any associated contracts is up to them. The sensible thing to do now would be to wish him well but offer his contracts at both CA and the SACA to others who can contribute to the teams going forward.

For what it's worth, IMHO he is/was an overrated cricketer who could bowl quick for short periods of time and was difficult to play at times because the batsmen had no idea where he was going to pitch the ball, which was not surprising because he had little idea himself ... others may agree or disagree with that ... so be it.
