Adelaide Strikers

First Class Cricket Talk (International and State)

Adelaide Strikers

Postby Gozu » Sun Mar 20, 2011 1:48 am

SOUTH Australia's Big Bash team will be known as the Adelaide Strikers next summer.

And the colours associated with the Redbacks - red and black - will be replaced with blue as the main colour with yellow and red trimmings.

The SACA has also received some interest from sponsors, both local and international, for naming rights.

It is understood Indian corporations are among the bidders.

The Sunday Mail understands the last outing for the Redbacks in Twenty20 will be in the Indian Champions League later this year, with the name and colours staying for that event because they qualified under the Redbacks banner. It is understood the rebranding comes as Cricket Australia and the state associations have structured their campaign around an urban, non-traditional theme with promotions likely to feature cricket grounds with city skylines in the background.

Not even keeping the old colours.

I will NOT be referring to them as anything other than the Redbacks... regardless of who is playing for them.

I won't become a fan nor attend games, Cricket Australia are alienating the original cricket supporters. They messed with the 50 over format so I stopped going. They have butchered the 20/20 game so I will stop attending. I don't care if they have a 3 year unbeaten streak I still will not attend.

Tell me what was wrong with 20,000 plus at a SA vs NSW 20/20 match???

Agree with all of the above posts.
I just can't see myself giving a flying F**K about this new format and after being a member of SACA for over 25 years, i just can't see the justification in continuing to fork out $$$$ for rubbish i'm rapidly losing interest in.
I'm with Jim05, hope it's a flop and nobody goes BUT as long as the INDIAN corporations make $$$$ through TV ratings, the ACB will declare it a success contrary to what the cricketing public want.
