Sheffield Shield - SA v Victoria

Postby brod » Wed Mar 02, 2011 11:09 pm

The Bushrangers will go into the Sheffield Shield match against South Australia starting on Thursday with a new-look pace attack.

Steve Gilmour and Jayde Herrick have been promoted to support the redoubtable Peter Siddle who remains hopeful of a call-up to replace the injured Doug Bollinger in Australia's World Cup squad.

Twenty-four-year-old Gilmour, whose only two Shield appearances were back in 2008-09, and Herrick, who made his state debut against the touring Englishmen back in December, replace Damien Wright and Mark Cleary from the line-up that forced a draw with New South Wales in the Vics' most recent outing.

James Pattinson (hand) and Andrew McDonald (calf) could not be considered because of injury, though coach Greg Shipperd expects McDonld to be available for the final match of Victoria's Shield campaign against the Bulls at the Gabba.

Bushrangers squad: Aaron Finch (capt.), Ryan Carters, Steven Gilmour, Jayde Herrick, Michael Hill, Jon Holland, Glenn Maxwell, Rob Quiney, Chris Rogers, Peter Siddle, Matthew Wade, Tom Stray

Redbacks squad: Michael Klinger, Cullen Bailey, Aiden Blizzard, Cameron Borgas, Dan Christian, Ben Edmondson, Daniel Harris, Nathan Lyon, Graham Manou,
Tom Moffat, Gary Putland, Kane Richardson, James Smith

Got Finch out at a vital time. Looked a big chance to take the game right away from us. Evenly poised now. Fingers crossed we get into the tail soon.

6/199, decent chance to chase 250 for first innings here if we can clean the tail up.

How many times have we had the opposition under reasonable pressure only for us to let the tail get away and change the game into their favour. Must be a fair few times its happened.
