Ricky blows his stack and jabs the motel tv with a 7-iron. So?
Why is it necessary to blow this up? I'm sure he immediately offered to pay for its replacement. Surely this is a private thing what he hell is the media doing jumping all over it?
So, can the Pontster and his men win the World Cup or not?

AGREE with MP, no they can't, form not good enough, hell when I stopped watching the game against Zimbabwe the other night I was worried we might lose, just after the skipper got out.

DV, I agree on principle with your comments, but if you have read the sports pages of the Advertiser in Adelaide lately, they need to put something different in there. I am sick already of 15 pages of footy, talking about nothing. Nothing hides from the media, cameras everywhere, mobile phones everywhere, people looking for a quick buck everywhere.

Agreed, I don't get why it's become such an issue. He got angry, tv got a little bit damaged, it's been repaired. Shouldn't that be it, end of?

Do we know the brand of TV? If not, it has not had the coverage we come to expect from off field incidents nowadays.

We can still win the cup. Australia's method in the past has been a slow build up attempting to peak when it matters an not so much in the earlier games. We might not come top of our group but no one will relish playing the Australians in the knock out stages. As for Punter's tellie...if it was Sachin we wouldn't have heard about it.

I've layed the Australians at 7's.
No chance.
England's form the other day has proven that they are terrible at the OD format. Australia are better, but not up to the standard of India, Sri Lanka and Sth Africa. We're too patchy and rely heavily on the likes of Watson, White and Hussey with the bat, and Tait, Lee and Johnson with the ball. Only Watson, Lee and Hussey have been consistent recently. Watson opens and is susceptible to the new ball. Lee is past his best. Hussey might only come in with a few balls to spare. Too patchy for my liking.

I think it's poor form from our national captain, look at the criticism Ben Cousins got for flicking the bird at a CCTV. We had a kid throw his bat and boot his helmet when he got out so we didn't let him bat or bowl the next game.

Fair enough too. Kids are amazing the way they seize on this stuff. I saw a brat of a tennis player carrying on like a pork chop during a junior championship (country, so it wasn't exactly Wimbledon) and his father came a ripped him off the court and forfeited the match.

Yeah and that was all bullshit too. And I don't recall Punter throwing his stuff about while he was on camera, so perhaps that kid shouldn't have been allowed to be a newsreporter instead?

He made a mistake, someone heard about, we all read about and are now commenting on it. It was an event that some media outlets saw to be in the public interest to report and going by the reaction we have had. rightly so.
as for all the nonense about not hearing about it if it was Sachin etc... IMO that is absolute nonsense. There have been plenty of occasions over the years that biased reporting in australia has picked up little incidents by visiting teams and blown it completely out of proportion. As a rule, we aussies seem to be happy to punish and judge others rather quickly but don't seem to take to well to something similar happening to one of our own.

no one criticises an Australian sportsman on my watch. So what if they break some rule somewhere? They are our guys/gals and I'm with them.

Correct action was taken against the young fella who chucked the shites but just because ponting chucked his bat or whatever (behind closed doors) doesnt mean the young lad thinks its ok for him to do so. He did it cos he is young, dissapointed he got out and it was a natural reaction. He now knows its not allowed. Every young lads have chucked a piece of gear after geting out at one stage, hell if i got out in the back yard even the bat would end up over the fence
