Very disappointing for Clarke to be stting out the last one dayer. He has just found "form" and is being rested.
Watson has earnt a well deserved rest, Clarke just because you have finally found the middle of your bat and prepared to risk your innings doesn't mean you need a rest.
We have other players out injured, if you have captaincy aspirations lead from the front.
I'd be pissed of now if I was Dan Christian, Adam Voges has not showed much form this summer.
Australia rest key duoWatson and Clarke handed pre-World Cup breakLast updated: 3rd February 2011
...Australia have announced that stand-in captain Michael Clarke and in-form opener Shane Watson will be rested for Sunday's final ODI against England.

With the World Cup on the sub-continent less than three weeks away, the duo have been stood down.

That means Cameron White will take over the captaincy, while Adam Voges and Jason Krejza have been added to the squad as cover.

All-rounder Steve Smith and spinner Xavier Doherty will also miss the clash in Perth after suffering injuries.

Chairman of selectors Andrew Hilditch said: "Michael Clarke and Shane Watson have had a very heavy workload this summer.

"As key players going into the ICC Cricket World Cup, a decision has been made that they will not play in Perth for the final match of this series.

Silled
"This decision together with the hip muscle injury to Steven Smith has meant that Adam Voges and Jason Krejza have been added to the squad for the last game of the season.

"Jason is a very skilled spinner and more than capable batsman who has already enjoyed international success and we are sure will seize the opportunity.

"Adam is having a very successful Ryobi Cup season for Western Australia and has good all-round skills with bat, ball and in the field.

"Cameron White will assume the captaincy and we are sure given his performance as vice-captain this series and record as captain of Victoria, he will do a fine job in leading this side."

Krejza returns to the Australia side three years, with the spinner having been in the wilderness since being dropped for the Test against South Africa at the WACA in 2008.

"It's the place I got dropped, it's the place I've got picked now, so it's a bit ironic," Krejza said.

"I never gave up hope, I just knew I was going to be a better bowler. I knew I'd have another opportunity and it's come along now, so I'm pretty excited."

Voges is 8th on the Ryobi Cup for runs scored behind Hodge, Cowan, Davis, Christian, Finch, Klinger and Wade.

311 runs @ 62 from 8 matches with a high score of 85*.

I was going more on his other form in the 20/20's & Pur Cup.
PS I had him in my fantasy team and he incurred my wrath ;)

So I wonder how they'll line up? I guess they'll drop a quick considering they are playing in Perth and the fact they picked 5 for Sydney.

Paine
Haddin
Ferguson
White
Voges
D.Hussey
Smith
Johnson
Krezja
Bollinger
Tait

I think Binga will be rested to work a new celebratory shimmy and they probably don't want to give Hastings another chance to show what a mistake they made.

So Hastings will play as that alrounder

Here is the team from the Cricket Australia website, interesting that only 11 players have been named.

Australia squad for Sunday's ODI:
Cameron White (c), Brad Haddin, Adam Voges, Callum Ferguson, David Hussey, John Hastings, Mitchell Johnson, Brett Lee, Jason Krejza, Doug Bollinger, Shaun Tait

Is Paine injured ?
If not you'd think he would get a hit before Voges since he's in the World Cup squad.

That line up does worry me, especially the batting.

Haddin(good but will need to value his wicket) 35-55runs
Voges(questionable)25-40runs
Ferg(needs to make a big score if we are to set a decent total)40-50runs
White(not a true batsman imo, no.6-7 at best in my opinion)20 runs
Hussey(ok but his average tells it how it is)30 runs
Hastings(bowling alrounder that cant bat)10 runs
Johnson(can hit a ball and the Aussies will need him to on sunday, several in fact)20 runs
Lee(bowler that can make 15-20 regulary)15 runs
Krezja(bowler expect 15 runs tops,)10 runs
Tait(bowler that cant bat much)0 runs
Bollinger(bowler that got lucky with the bat in Tassie, dont expect too many runs)5 runs

have just put figures with names as a massive guess basically to see what sort of score this batting lineup is capable of, total combined is = 210-255. I think they'll need about 280 to beat England at the Waca. Sorry boys you'll have to out-do yourselves this week to come away with it.

Any new re Paine?

I can't believe that he'd be left out, so barring injury I would assume they simply failed to name FTC in the twelve...
