Shame on the Gabba Crowd

I can remember the last time an Australian cricket crowd booed the person who has the second highest profile job in Australia - G. Chappell MCG - underarm.

Let me remind the Gabba crowd that Clark is not trying to not make runs. He is busting his boiler to re invent the run making person that we supported over the last 5-6 years. He has as captain, won 4 out of 6 games against the Ashes winning poms. He has displayed good leadership under fire from the media (and forums), showing initiative and getting an Australian team that was in the doldrums to playing some good cricket. Having said that, I see 25% improvement above our current displays.

After a hard fought 50, that at least showed that there are indeed human and acknowledged his display.

I know you have recently had some tough time, and you raised a significant amount for the re building of your city and other flood areas.

BUT PLEASE - show some respect for our Test Captain.

I still don't think he should be in either the Test or ODI team, LET ALONE be the Captain.

It is my view that the people who were booing ( and are entitled to do so ) were booing at the selectors and not Clarke himself. I think it was a aimed at his selection, not him.

As pointed out by my esteemed colleague above, I should and am able to boo at whom I want when I want. You know it makes sense.

It's become all too accepted these days to boo people who represent our country, whether it be sporting people or our Prime Ministers.

We may not have selected them or voted for them or even like them, but once they are there representing our country I think they deserve a fair amount of respect and support.

More's the pity our society behaves in such a manner these days, IMHO.

This goes back to the selection issue doesn't it. Dare I say it, but there is not one person playing in our first class ranks that has put his hand up, by performance and said pick me, pick me. Might not help that we have been playing 20/20 for the last 6 weeks, but to just hand someone a Aussie cap is not in my opinion the way to go. Gone is our golden era where we had several batters waiting in the wings and making s..t loads in our first class game. Unfortunately the state of Aussie cricket at the moment is below par and we are suffering. I say keep playing Clarke, he is class when in form.

Clarke's image doesn't seem to be popular, but what I have always admired is his priorities on the cricket field. Test cricket is number one for him and while a lot of players were chasing bigger coin in T20, he was putting his energies into the more important form of the game.

Because of this, I am willing to give him a go and let him find his way through this form slump. He is a quality player who was very disappointing in the Ashes, but he wasn't alone.

It is very important he performs for Australia to do well. Lets hope he gets back to his best soon.
