Sage advice from the young lad and Clarke looked less than willing to take it on board...

He didn't look too impressed, did he?

*cue Clarke to get out today "pushing at the ball too much..."*

Fair enough a 17 year old kid giving Clarke advice on how to bat
After all Clarke only averages a paltry 43.69 in his ODI career
5768 is simply a poor return as well
48 times in 168 innings Clarke has passed 50, simply not good enough

Bat Clarke at 1 or 6 not inbetween.

Michael Clarke... A few "stats for your ass" as Coach Carter says...

Season 2010/11:

6 innings, 259 runs at 64.75 (2 not outs), high score 111*

Season 2010:

5 innings, 220 runs at 73.33 (2 not outs), high score 99*

As CAPTAIN:

20 innings, 765 runs at 47.81 (4 not outs), high score 111* (2 centuries)

Has scored 22 fifties batting at number four.

Only damning fact is that in his first four or five years he had a strike rate of about 85-90.

Now the career stat is under 78 runs per 100 balls.

think he should bat at number 12 for a while

He took that pretty well I thought. Listened then responded with a straight face. Would be all too easy to laugh at the kid and fire the old "how many tests have you played" barb. Stranger things have happened than a 17 year old kid nailing the issue on the head.

Clarke's had his spot confirmed until the end of the world cup. As captain and with such a good record, he was always going to, so I'm happy enough for the selectors to confirm it. Hopefully it allows him to just bat and captain and not worry about his spot on top of that.

Helps that there aren't too many pushing their way in to his spot as well though.

No doubt his captaincy record is exceptional Graham and you are right, this vote of confidence may do him good.
I really think, without having a check, that his best spot in 1 dayers is 1 or 6. In the "slower" overs that batsmans 3,4,5 normally get I just don't think he's capable of hitting the fence.

What a joke this bloke should be back playing a few games for NSW,

His arrogance is really shining through during this bad trot. Another press confrence with Clarke sprouting how his hitting the ball well, he feels good, he just missed one. Im sick of it

WHO THE F**K DO YOU THINK YOUR KIDDING, YOUR NOT HITTING THE BALL WELL, YOU ARE HITTING EVERYTHING IN THE F**KING AIR WHEN YOU ACTUALLY DO HIT IT, YOU COULD DRIVE A TRUCK THROUGH THE GAP BETWEEN YOUR BAT AND PAD. FFS YOU JUST GOT BOWLED BY PAUL COLLINGWOOD. AT LEAST HAVE THE BALLS TO ADMIT YOUR BATTING LIKE A BACKYARD CRICKETER.

Obviously went to the Mark Taylor school of press conferences.

Can't blame him really when he's backed 1000% by clueless selectors ... of course he feels infallible.

LOL, feel better after that rant?

I can't ever remember an Australian Captain getting booed by a home crowd, but it happened today.
Even if he was making runs the Aussie public just don't seem to like him.
I reckon Kim Hughes was more popular even though half the country wanted Rod Marsh as captain.

Can anyone remember the last time an Australian Cricket Captain was treated like this ?

This was half the crowd though, unusual occurrence.

The half booing were Aussies, the half cheering were Poms, knowing that there wouldnt be many runs scored whilst Clarke was there...
