First Class Cricket Talk (International and State)

Dan Christian

Postby Media Park » Sat Dec 11, 2010 2:24 pm

Now I might have a bit of a roger for this bloke, but gee whiz he can play, and as a radical thought, why don't they bat Haddin at six, and throw DC in at seven? Aggressive bat, sharpish bowler...

Career First Class stats:
24 games, 973 runs at 27, 68 wickets at 33
One Day games:
39 games, 1115 runs at 41 (strike rate 99), 33 wickets at 33

Really good one day stats, but the first class doesn't look that great, but compares with Doherty or Beer quite favourably...

When you look at what he has done this year, it doesn't look amazing, but he's been really good
Season First Class stats:
5 matches, 309 runs at 34, 10th in SS, 12 wickets at 43, equal 13th
Season One Day stats:
6 matches, 282 runs at 56 (4th in comp) at a strike rate of 110, 12 wickets at 21 (equal third).

This guy needs a big push, show some guts selectors, but try putting some faith in someone who has performed...

Can bat well but we dont need any more pedestrian 130km/h bowlers. Just think hos bowling would get found out at test level

Guys .. you're talking about the same selectors who picked Doherty and Beer for Test spots. Don't set your hopes too high.

Got dealt with a bit with the ball, but gee whiz, he can wield a bat...

What was it today 85 off 40 balls! Nearly pinched it for the backs today. That's the second time a New South Welshman has torn us a new one after Cowan got 130 odd against us earlier in the year.

He is in great form. The only thing that he struggles with is his economy rate. It's generally around the 6 r.p.o. mark.

40 odd in the SS game, Cooper aside, he was the only one who looked like he knew which way to hold the bat!

Will get a go in the main t20 and/or ODI side before the summer is over you'd expect, but still on the cusp of getting into the WC squad. Million miles from the test side.

Isnt the standard for being an all rounder that your bowling average is lower than your batting average. Dan Christians isnt.

Rate him big time but his bowling is far to pederstrian (at this stage) to be used as a bowler at test level.

Hopefully he works on swining the ball both normal and reverse, that would earn him test selection imho.

Should be in both the ODI and T20 squads.
