I wonder who'll be the 4 missing out.

I think they have one too many spinners and could do with a middle order batsman. If Smith plays, he's likely to be in as a batsman (should've been Ferg), it appears as though Marsh will get a gig (out of that 15, I'd open with Hadds).

This is how I'd line them up with that squad, although I think it's a pretty unbalanced squad.

Watson
Haddin
Ponting
Clarke
White
Hussey
Smith
Johnson
Siddle
McKay
Hastings

5 pace bowlers, 2 mediocre spinners, 5 recognized batsmen with a keeping all-rounder. Maybe Doherty or Hauritz will come in for a paceman, it would depend on if Watson is scheduled to bowl a full quota of overs.

At least there's an obvious spot there for him, not scoring a run in India probably hurt his immediate chances

With Ponting not playing this is how I think the team will line up, also bearing in mind that Doherty has already been told he is definately playing.

Marsh
Watson
Haddin
Clarke (c)
Hussey
White
Smith
Johnson
Doherty
Siddle
Hastings/McKay/Starc

Ponting was listed on the cric-info website as playing, has there been a change?

It was on the news last night that he has got his Grandma's funeral in Tassie today.

I guess they don't have flights from Adelaide to Melbourne on Tuesdays or Wednesdays to get Ferg over there. Batsman for a batsman

Looking forward to seeing how Xavier Doherty performs.....has been bowling well in the domestic comps and deserves an opportunity....

Michael Clarke opened up in the last 20/20 game and replaced Shane Watson
Perhaps they will do something AS similar today and open the batting with Peter Siddle in place of Watson

AU is the best ODI team in the world I expect them to bounce back and win today

I don't think we will, we have the possible players at our disposal but we just ignore to play them for some stupid reason.

Haddin's hit 8 fours in his 41 so far. Doesn't fancy running today obviously.
