SA v WA Shield Match

Postby brod » Thu Oct 28, 2010 10:53 pm

Despite making two centuries in six days Western Australian youngster Liam Davis has been dropped for the Warriors' Sheffield Shield clash against South Australia.
The opener hit Ryobi One-Day Cup centuries against Victoria and New South Wales but was dumped from WA's 13-man squad along with fellow top-order batsman Wes Robinson.
Four WA international players will play in the match at Adelaide Oval starting Friday.
Marcus North already featured for the Warriors in their five-wicket victory over the Redbacks in the Ryobi One Day Cup on Wednesday, while Test stars Mike Hussey and Mitchell Johnson and one-day representative Shaun Marsh make up the inclusions.
SA regain Callum Ferugson, who upon returning from India was rested for the one-day match.
Redbacks quick Peter George also returns to limited overs action while Cameron Borgas and Gary Putland are the unlucky South Australians to miss out.
Ferguson will strengthen SA's batting line up where the top order has failed to fire in recent weeks.
Ferguson admitted his side will need a good start against some 'quality international' opposition to stand any chance of winning.
"It's going to be a hotly-contested match this one, it's going to be a huge challenge for our blokes, they have got some international quality out there so we are going to have to be at our very best," he said.

South Australia:
Michael Klinger (captain), Aiden Blizzard, Rob Cassell, Daniel Christian, Chris Duval, Ben Edmondson, Callum Ferguson, Peter George, Daniel Harris, Graham Manou, Aaron O’Brien, James Smith

Western Australia:
Marcus North (captain), Michael Beer, Matt Dixon, Ryan Duffield, Michael Hogan, Mike Hussey, Mitchell Johnson, Mitchell Marsh, Shaun Marsh, Luker Pomersbach, Luke Ronchi, Michael Swart, Adam Voges

I cant imagine our attack getting that WA team out for less than 400+ unless the weather creates some unforeseeable pitch gremlins.

They dont need 400. 300 is plenty against our mentally fragile batting attack at moment. Who knows this could be the game they stand up and declare enough is enough

Heard fergie on radio and i think he has been to neil craig media school. He said its only early in season and we are not worried about how we are playing at moment because we have a process in order and if we stick to this process the results will come.
My points are
1 when is it too late to start worrying?
2 do we need to change process because we are getting results its just that they are negative results

Dont know but did anyone else cringe at the interview

Cricketers traditionally give the bland, cliche, company line interviews though  Very rare they come out with anything too juicy.

Harsh but humorous! Would this be his first game for WA in the 2 years since he transferred???
