If mike hussey is rested (which wont happen, but just suppose if) the entire team will be from NSW/VIC. Would this have ever happened before in the national team?

Apparently its David Hussey not Michael in the squad so that makes it 6 from NSW and 6 from VIC.

Right on the money there REB! Test cricket is where it's at. This stuff is just to bring in the crowds and let's hope they don't overdo it in the future. On the Redbacks that could have been included, I reckon Christian is the only one with any real claims to it.

Maxy Klinger & Ferguson had a pretty good Campions League tournament!

Pretty sure those teams are not playing SS cricket over the weekend in that period hencing Aus don't care about T20 int. but only when they get to the T20WC.

Australian crickets list of priorities right now....

1) Ashes
2) ODI World Cup

3) Random, meaningless T20's

I really couldn't give a toss who is or isn't picked for a pointless T20. I would rather see guys like Mike Hussey playing Shield games as practice for the Ashes, although it would've been good to see ferguson get a game. Out of the squad Bloods listed, it is only Clarke, Watson & probably Haddin who will play in the Ashes with maybe Siddle depending on Bolly & injuries. Smith & O'Keefe an outside chance.

May-Z ... I can understand the point you are trying to make but how many of those players listed have played test match cricket? A lot of them have only played a couple of ODI's or T20's. Considering now we are playing in three different formats with specialists and very few who play in all three, there was always going to be a need to cap more players. When we start giving away baggy greens to players randomly then I will whole-heartedly agree with you.

test matches

1/1/2001-31/12/2005 32 players in 66 matches
1/1/2006-today 42 players in 49 matches

overall
2001-2005 208 matches
2006-today 227 matches

days of cricket (generously giving t20 a whole day)
2001-2005 - 472
2005-today - 423
